"What began as a trip with a beautiful sea-view room quickly turned into a sanitation and safety hazard. Upon arrival, we discovered a massive ant colony living inside the walls. My two small children and I were bitten multiple times. Because the hotel had no other large rooms available, they offered to split our young family into two separate rooms—an unacceptable option. Desperate, I agreed to let them spray, and that night, the staff and I literally had to hunt and kill 100 to 200 ants crawling across the room just so my kids could sleep. The infestation was bad, but the manager’s reaction the next morning was genuinely unhinged. When I approached him, he completely refused to take responsibility. Instead, he aggressively blamed my family, claiming the ants were our fault for having food. He then bizarrely condescended to me, stating that "ants are the cleanest animals in the world" and that I shouldn't be upset about the bites. He dug in his heels to avoid offering a discount, but I didn't even want money—I just wanted a basic apology. He refused, said some incredibly ugly things, and lacked any shred of professional empathy. By checkout, the ants had returned with a vengeance. This room needs to be completely quarantined and fumigated. The front-line staff is nice, but the manager is a liability who blames guests for safety failures. Absolute hazard. Beware."

All the staff were very welcoming and friendly, each one went above and beyond the normal expected service, from reception to the restaurant staff, they all made our anniversary trip very special. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again."

"I arrived in severe pain due to the development of a Kidney Stone. I was quite early [like 11:00 AM]. The Front Desk Clerk was exceptionally alert and exceptionally kind and helpful. I did not even ask for early check-in, but he immediately identified a Room that was ready and checked me in immediately. I will forever be grateful for that act of kindness / compassion.!"

"We were a bit confused by this hotel. This is a luxury boutique hotel that didn’t really feel like a luxury hotel. The staff were nice which is expected but didn’t go out of their way for us. The location is excellent and our room had a beautiful view of the Portofino piazza but the windows all had signs saying “please keep windows closed”. Our room furnishings were standard. The hotel is very loud. We were above the restaurant and could hear the music all day and we could hear people in the hallway and the very loud guests in the room above us most of the night. Despite this hotel’s social media, website, Expedia saying the amenities included a free shuttle to the beach, there was no free shuttle. When we asked about it we were told by staff we had to walk 30 min to the beach on the dangerous, hilly, winding one lane road(our taxi driver coming to Portifino specifically told us tourists are hit every day when they mistakenly walk on the road). We paid for a taxi to take us to the beach. No pool. The only other amenities were the one hour gozzo boat ride which was nice and the breakfast at the restaurant Dav Mare which was the best part of staying at this hotel. The restaurant staff are exemplary and the food is delicious (and plentiful). Also be advised that this hotel has a very specific check in. You can only check in between 3-6pm because the hotel is in the pedestrian zone. A bellhop meets you at the taxi drop off and walks you and your bags two blocks to the hotel."

"Beautiful boutique hotel... gorgeous old elevator, nice staff, INCREDIBLE SHOWER. Maybe the best I've ever been in. Great restaurants nearby... my only warning is that walking to the port or the old city center you have to go through some real rough looking areas. First time I was ever scared in Italy. That was a bummer."
