We loved how quaint and old works feel for the building and the room. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and modern. Would definitely recommend to anyone. The proximity to Prague Castle is awesome
What a gem this place is! Perfect location, wonderful staff and lovely rooms. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling the Prague. The restaurant at the golden star hotel where you check in is delicious and the staff made us feel some welcome. If I ever return to Prague I would stay here again no questions.
Old character property, very nice rooms if you like that sort of old world thing. Bear in mind that also means winding staircases and no air con, room was 28 Celsius overnight during the Aug heatwave.
Great stay at red lion hotel. The check in and check out process was very smooth with friendly reception staff. The hotel rooms were very old with lots of character, well maintained and the beds were super comfortable and our room were on the top floor Suite , the stairs leads to the suite 2 separate bedrooms on either side in the middle with the corridor and bathroom suit and great view from the rooms. The hotel was approximately 10 minutes walk away from old town square, and 10 minutes to walk to the Prague Castle complex .The hotel offers a brilliant breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed, there was plenty of choice including Prosecco, cold meats, cheese, various types of bread and pastries, fresh fruit and cold juices, tea and coffee.
I would definitely recommend to other travellers and be happy to return!
Thank you.
We were 3 people staying in a junior suite . The space was huge with two bedrooms and a single off the first room as well. The king mattresses were a little uncomfortably firm , but decent. Two full bathrooms was great! The patio area was a huge bonus .
The apartment had no air conditioning but the fans were a big plus and made the temperature pleasant enough for sleeping during a heat wave . We had included breakfast over at the golden star hotel and it was great .
Lovely hotel, with comfortable, spacious rooms. Ample breakfast, with a good variety of food, in nearby sister hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for a 5 day trip, when you want to see the sights but enjoy a bit of time in the hotel, as well.
Parking was difficult but the staff was wonderful doing valet parking for us. Our rooms were lovely but we did have several flights of steep stairs ro get ro the room. I knew to pack light for this stay so we were prepared. we enjoyed the areaa but did have a hard time finding the hotel initially. streets were narrow.
We actually had two connecting rooms for our group of 5 (my daughter, 3 granddaughters and myself). There was plenty of space and the accommodations were nice. As was noted, there is no elevator. However, our rooms were just one level up and the climb wasn't bad.
That said, it should be noted that the hotel is located up a steep climb. I was not prepared for this. We took a tram from the train station and knew it was a 0.7 mile walk to the hotel - just didn't realise it was like walking to the castle on top of the hill. On the other hand, we were closer to the castle and visited the area ofter.
I loved the location - not as crowded as on the other side of the river but plenty to do, great restaurants, views etc.
We loved the proximity to the castle and St Nicholas square near also the Infant of Prague altar in a church nearby . Street is very safe , boutiques , cafes but not overwhelming . The reception is up the street at the Golden Star & staff speak great English and are very helpful . Breakfast there amazing . Beds very comfy and updated shower , antique look with real oil paintings and antique furnture etc . No A/c but fans . No elevator either but for the price and location it was great for us . If you have mobility issues the street is steep so be careful of that . Basically two smaller nice hotels one owner but checkin , elevator , AC at Golden Star . We would definitely stay here again . Also be mindful parking is only for residents - the hotel offers valet and take car to safe location miles away but is pricey at 40 euros a day . Calculate that into you stay .
Beautifully renovated traditional hotel in a fantastic location. We arrived at midnight, very easy check in at the Golden Star. We booked a Junior suite for 2 adults and 2 children (expecting 2 bedrooms) and were happy to find an extra single bedroom in the large suite.
Really comfortable beds, quiet and relaxing. Great breakfast at the Golden star.
Excellent value, we look forward to returning.
We booked this hotel without realizing there was no Air Conditioning. With the heat wave we barely slept. Our room was on the main road. With the windows open (and still extremely hot in the room) we had loud drunk people outside our window extremely late. People would also smoke and the smell would rise into our room. We were charged for two beers that never existed in our fridge. I recommend taking a picture of your mini bar upon arrival. The WiFi also did not work well enough to use. We ended up using our data for the trip. Another thing to note is the beds are EXTREMELY hard. I was so glad to move onto our next hotel. My boyfriend and I debated eating the costs and finding another hotel, but decided to stay for the hassle of moving everything. It left us exhausted. The breakfast and office are actually located in an another hotel up the hill, there are no staff on sight at the actual hotel you stay in. The staff at the other hotel was friendly and helped as much as they were able to.
The hotel exceeded my expectations. We booked a family room, but it felt more like a two-room apartment with a hallway in between. It was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated with interesting details. The breakfast was served at the sister hotel, Golden Star, just 60 meters away—and it was very good.
We’ll definitely return if we visit Prague again someday.
Great pleasant stay , we loved old style room decor with beautiful ceiling. Quite comfy sleep.
Only thing was short of coffee pods asked to restock where lady offered to go to reception to take from there which isn’t an option since reception is in different building. She finally arranged to deliver to out room ☺️
Very good location. Just 5 mins walking to Prague Castle. Balcony is nice with a small garden. Room is clean and affordable for family with 2 or even 3 kids. Only problem is no ac. In summer it's really hot.
Fantastic hotel with lovely staff. Huge space, perfect for a family of four with beautifully painted ceiling. Very quiet - the only thing we heard was the church bells ringing in the mornings and a lovely view over the wooded hill. Great location just below Prague Castle which meant you could beat the crowds in the morning.Everything else within walking distance. We much preferred Mala Strana to the old town which was very busy and seedy in places. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
Pros: Excellent location, easily walkable. Large room for a family of four with beds for everyone. Small fridge in room, plenty of space. Room was beautiful. The free breakfast provided at Golden Star was great with a lot of options. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful (Jana). WiFi was good. Lots of windows to open at night and fans provided.
Cons: Didn’t have hot water for a day, that being said, it was fixed as quickly as possible. Biggest complaint is the bath/shower…someone is going to break a hip getting in and out of that. The tub wall is about two feet high, and then you have to step down another foot into tub. Only thing to hang on to is a glass wall. As fit people, we struggled. They at least need to install a bar to hold on to. Also of note, lots of stairs to room, no elevator (which we expected). Bring your own hair dryer unless you want to use an antique European one. Found king bed to be pretty uncomfortable, very hard with a ridge in the middle.
Overall a great value and location.
