Very pretty hotel

Lovely boutiquey hotel in excellent location for all of Richmond. Calm environment with beautiful furniture and lounges plus garden area. Helpful owners. Great breakfast included prunes roasted in Earl Grey!

The hotel was lovely, the rooms beautiful and the staff extremely friendly and helpful (especially Melissa). Breakfast choices and quality fabulous. We will definitely be revisiting.

It's a lovely boutique hotel right in the centre of Richmond. It's warm, cosy and very friendly. There are very comfortable seating areas inside and in the garden. Breakfast is delicious, with handmade bread. Just lovely.

Best host & hotel in Richmond

Fabulous weekend, the host David was such a lovely guy and went above and beyond the 3 days & 2 nights we were at the French gate. Room 2 was beautiful and the building is absolutely stunning. So much choice at breakfast and all cooked to perfection but the highlight of the weekend was the chips. One of the best stays we’ve had for a long time and hopefully we’ll be back soon, David & all the team, can’t thank you enough.

Small friendly hotel.

Nice friendly staff, good breakfast. We paid for the superior room but it didn’t seem particularly superior as it was pretty small, but all facilities were good. I’d just expect a bit more for the price of £198 per night.

Short Break

An excellent stay. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and the attentive service continued throughout or stay. The room was really comfortable with a great view along the quaint Frenchgate. The lounge downstairs was a real bonus. A tranquil space to enjoy a drink from the bar. The breakfasts were also excellent with a good choice of options.

Great location for Richmond town centre. Breakfast was lovely and owners flexible with options. Parking on the street outside but the hotel can arrange parking to rear if required. Felt very Covid safe. Will definitely consider another short break here.

Overnight in Richmond North Yorkshire

Very conveniently situated in Richmond though we were disappointed that the restaurant is temporarily closed. Elegant town house hotel whose rooms are very well appointed. Room 6 has a huge bed with single duvets which made for a good night's sleep. My pillows could have been a bit firmer however. Staff very welcoming and obliging and the choice at breakfast this morning was very comprehensive: lots to suit all tastes.

Charming hotel, attentive service.

Charming hotel with friendly and helpful staff, we stayed in the “cottage” bedroom which was beautifully done. Roll-top bath but no shower as the bathroom has a low ceiling. Great breakfast.
