"Enjoyable one night stay at the Dude Rancher. Older motel in Billings, but clean and safe. Be aware, the parking is tight if you choose to park close to your room in the off the street parking area. Staff was efficient and helpful. In fact, the lady who was working the evening shift when we checked in voluntarily moved her vehicle so we could park closer to our room. Probably not a lot of hotel employees would inconvenience themselves like that in order to make a guest’s stay more convenient. Jim and Lori. Altoona, Iowa"

"A/C in room was non op. Had a hard time using washer and dryer due to only vacant dryer was cold air only. Some selfish lodger had all the other dryers full of personal clothes. Staff was notified per their own sign, but nothing was done"

"Well lit parking. Nice staff. Clean room. The motel info/directory said free breakfast is available next door. Staff said new owners discontinued that amenity. The poor desk clerks are getting chewed out over the change."

"When you put yourself out there as a high end hotel, an established mainstay and icon of the local history one expects a bit more when staying here. As a matter of fact my wife stayed here about 18 months prior and had a great experience. However, there was nothing truly remarkable about our stay and as a note, there were things that occurred here that didn't happen at a much lower rated place two years ago on my last visit. 4 day stay - no vacuum, empty coffee cups left on tables, bathroom toilet not cleaned among many of the quirks. No "How was your stay?" upon check out and no assistance with luggage upon check out and valet. It was almost as if it didn't matter and they couldn't be bothered. Not to say that there were not individual successes such as the young man at Bernie's who tended to our breakfast and a nice bartender and waitress at TEN while we enjoyed a late night snack, but, this is expected. I am not saying it was horrible. Nice bed, easy in and out. But no wow factor, no bang for the buck and certainty no long lasting impression that says "WOW - I got to stay here again!". A legacy of luxury since 1902... Your resting on your laurels."
