The Perfect Getaway........
This was a return trip for us to Rio Lagartos and it’s just the perfect hotel with rooms overlooking the ocean. The owners are so friendly, remembered us and we had our favorite room again. King size beds, AC, fans and nice bathroom amenities made for a wonderful relaxing stay.

Place is basic and clean; good hot water and nice balcony overlooking the water. Major bummer was that just before going to bed, realized our window was jammed and we could not have it open to let in the ocean air while we slept.

location location location! We loved the balcony in front of the water. The staff was amazing, they brought us coffee, toast and fruit in the morning for us to eat on the balcony looking at flamingos. Very relaxed and quiet place to spend a couple of days.

The place has an immense amount of character, from the spiral staircase to the beautiful murals on the wall. There are cute little details everywhere and the staff were super friendly :)

It's a simple place in a sleepy fishing village. Tourism is slow in the area and not many people around. We stayed on the ground floor and the room was a bit strange. There are nice window shutters (near total room blackout), but there is no glass on window. So, you can either stay cool in total darkness in the room or melt in the heat seeing the view. Hot water was more on lukewarm side.

Nice and clean!
Place was clean. Restaurant only opened in the morning for coffee, toast and fruit. No roof top terrace as advertised. It there but nothing is up there, just a roof. Bonus was the large balcony!

This hotel was perfect considering the location. Being a small fishing town our room was in front of the river. Every morning the fishermen would go out for their catch. At night we would see them fishing for shrimp straight off the wall of the street. The staff of this small hotel were great. Clean rooms and salt air when you open your window. GREAT place to stay.

I liked this hotel because it was clean, had view right on the water, nice breeze with the windows in case power goes out from the town it still was cool, very friendly staff and has good coffee provided. Very friendly reception.

What a lovely little gem!
This hotel was so well placed, directly adjacent to all the jetty's where the tour boats depart. It was clean, comfortable and bright and airy. It was extremely good value for money and also provided a free breakfast which we weren't expecting. Fresh cooked omelet to order, coffee, toast, juice etc. The area was delightful, very safe and had surprisingly good amenities. I only allowed one night in our itinerary as I wondered if we would get bored with more time, but I actually think two nights and at least one full day would have been perfect. The private boat tours are very affordable for our family of 5 and very safe and comfortable. We saw crocodiles up close, a huge variety of sea birds & of course the pink lakes and flamingos. For the really keen, you could cover your face & body in therapeutic white silt believed to be wonderful for the skin (although I am a little skeptical myself)

Could be better with a few small touches
This could be a far better place with a few inexpensive improvements: at least one lamp to break the harsh glare of the overhead lights, a couple of drinking glasses if not bottled water in the room, a few potted plants in the very sparten breakfast area, etc. Our room was clean, and the wifi worked. Most of the nearby restaurants closed by six p.m. we were greatful for the one that stayed open and served very fresh grilled fish.

Lovely stay.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location was great and we were able to connect with a guide to take us out for bird watching. The best shower and bed of our trip.

A simple & authentic hotel far from Cancun resorts
We only stayed one night. Everyone made us feel welcome. The recommendations were spot on. The hotel also helped us book a boat tour of the national Park.

OK for one night stay and convenient for boat trip
The hotel was right next to the lagoon, allowing us to take a very early morning boat trip. The room was clean, but basic and the double beds were very narrow, making it hard to sleep. This was not helped by some very loud music somewhere near the hotel that carried on until 5am, although obviously this wasn't the hotel's fault. There are very few choices of accommodation in Rio Lagartas and the hotel was very cheap, so overall for one night this hotel was OK. The hotel staff were lovely and helped organise our boat trip (which was amazing!)

Wonderful, quiet and relaxing town
Rio Lagartos is a sleepy town kept alive by the Flamingo tourism business! The hotel was good for the price we paid. It was comfortable and came with TV, good WiFi and good overall facilities in the bedroom. A great location to view sunsets over the estuary.

Better than expected in a remote location
After traveling on a day that reached 101° F it was a relief to have a room with a great AC unit and fan. The room cooled down quickly and kept us comfortable throughout the night. We had a great view from our 3rd story room. The room was simple but spotless. The owner was very nice and he gave us a special tour. It looks like the owner has updated the accommodations recently and the rooms have a bright and cheerful feel. You can't expect 5 star luxury in such a remote location but to have a clean, comfortable room is always a nice surprise.

Best place to stay in Rio Lagartos
This was a lovely hotel for Rio Lagartos. Rio is a small town with few amenities for travelers, there are limited options for places to stay, and this was easily the best on offer. Comfortable, cool, with a nice view of the river and the fishing boats covered in pelicans. If you're lucky, you'll see flamingos flying by in the evening.
