"My sister and I stayed 2 nights and found the room to be pretty perfect for our needs. If you are looking for resorty, don’t stay here. It was basic, but very clean and comfortable. The beds were comfy and the heat/ac worked well. The location was great, close to everything we wanted to do. "Great place to stay for centralized location. Easy walking to all the tourist activities. Our room was clean and comfortable, also quite large. No elevator but it wasn't an issue. Lovely staff."

"The staff were so pleasant to talk to and since my wife and I were not able to climb stairs, we were upgraded to a first floor room. The breakfast served every day was so delicious and ready when we were. Everything we needed was taken care of by wonderful people. Also all the attractions are within walking distance since the hotel is located downtown. I highly recommend the Melville House and we will be staying there again."

"Hotel was beautiful! Location was prime. Weather was pouring rain for our stay so not great. Meredith the Concierge worked wonders getting us a reservation to our top pick for restaurants 22 Bowen. It did not disappoint! We used the hotel’s large gym before an amazing dinner. Free WiFi required a bonvoy membership (which is free) but slightly annoying."

"The hotel was very clean, and the staff was extremely cooperative and welcoming throughout our stay. The breakfast had a great variety of options, and having coffee available 24/7 was very much appreciated. Check-in and check-out were both quick and hassle-free. The property is also conveniently located just 9 minutes drive from downtown Newport, with plenty of food options nearby. Overall, it was a very comfortable and pleasant stay."

After entering the room, which should have been clean, we found something quite disgusting on the bed so if the sheets were changed this item would not have been there. The room was obviously not cleaned. We ended up not staying at the Viking and checked into another hotel and had a great experience. The Viking was very disappointing after the so called “renovation”. We will not be visiting the Viking...
