Standard japanese hotel. Nice and close to transportation. Firm beds. Good size room. The area for breakfast was small and cramped, i don't know if this is normal, or just a really busy morning?
Extremely good value hotel in Sendai only 10 minutes from the station through Central exit across the walkway and down the lift to street level and round the corner. Used laundry ( detergent supplied), staff good as I had to change my room on arrival as the water in the toilet cistern kept running so I knew I had to change rooms which the man at reception did with no problem. Value wise excellent as fairly modern, clean etc and half the price of similar standard hotels in Japan in my 4 weeks travel. However walls are very thin. First night I could hear conversation next door but finished by 11pm. Second night, the person came to room and turned tv on loudly until 130am. I knocked on the door but person either couldn't hear it or refused to open. Luckily I have noise cancelling headphones as earplugs no good.
Also I did pay 1100y for the breakfast buffet once but very poor for western taste except for the croissants. So if noise doesn't bother you or lucky with next door person ,it's great value.
good point: located near the station
very negative points: the bed for 2 people is 1m30 large!!! no cupboard, no drawers in the room
Also, there was construction work going on in the building opposite our window at 11pm!! the receptionist told me that it was "about to finish"... We were not informed in advance.
You can see the age of the room and facilities, and how they don’t care about the details, e.g. most budget hotel managed to get their bathroom mirrors steam-proofed but not KOKO, their faucets are the old fashioned dual turning type which you can imagine they don’t care to renew facilities… in terms of safety, anyone can walk into the hotel and access and any floor without a key card and the front desk people don’t bother to look at who’s in and out… and, the bed and pillows are anything but comfortable
Cleanliness is disappointing, the floor has a lot of hair, including the toilet. And towels also has hair, that is not clean. I cannot trust the cleanliness of the room.
