The hotel is in great location. But other than location, not much reaching Ascott general standards at all. Front desk can’t speak / understand English. Room is carpet with hairs. The bathtub is so tiring and you won’t take a bath at all. Gym is 24 hours which is great. The swimming pool needs someone to escort you to visit and they force you to buy a swimming cap which is not stated in any part of the reservation requirement. I won’t be choosing this one in the future for sure.

The stay is fine. The staff is not as helpful as expected, e.g. seldom able to answer questions effectively and correctly. There is one exception though, whose name is Ethan Chen. Ethan is very professional and friendly. Once hearing my complaint about iPhone charging in my room, he immediately act to quickly resolve the issue. Definitely a special thank to him.

We are traveling a lot all over the world staying in many different kinds of hotels and apartments. This was our 4th hotel on this trip (Fuzhou Juchunyuan Yushan Hotel, -Meiyuan Hotel, Fuzhou - Wuyishan Tianxin Mingyue Tea Mountain Villa, Wuyishan). All other hotels were less than half the price of Ascott so we had expectations but still knowing that prices in Shanghai is higher than other cities. Arriving in the lobby being friendly greeted by the staff was a nice experience. The immediate impression of the room with a nice view over the city. From there… -the room was very humid with a smell of old basement. -The aircondition was very noisy and didn’t work as an aircondition. -Asking at the reception if they could set up a dehumidifier but they only opened our windows which helped a little regarding the smelll but didn’t help regarding the humidity… the outside air was very humid. -The outside was too noisy to have the windows open and the noise from the aircondition also too much so sleeping is not easy. -We didn’t much time in the room because of exploring the city but on day three I started to feel an asthmatic reaction kicking in when staying longer in the room. -Humidity made the bed linen damp when going to bed. -The room needed a makeover in general. Paint etc was worn out. -Foot trash was left outside our neighbor door for two days without being removed. All in all it has been a very disappointing and unsatisfying stay especially when paying so much per night.

We stayed at Ascott Huai Hai Road for 5 nights and it was 1 of the best so far, for the amount that we paid for. Service has been top notch from the moment we stepped in. We had to change rooms once as the room below us had a burst pipe, we appreciate that they personally informed us of the issue, and managed to find us a similar room 2 floors down almost immediately. We had left behind my daughter's camera upon checkout and only realised it late that night. When I messaged the hotel via this app, I got an immediate reply from Ethan Chen. I still preferred to talk over the phone and managed to get through, afterwhich he offered to send the lost and found item via package delivery to our new hotel within a day. I offered to pay for the delivery service, but they waived it and said it was their job. Really touched by their actions and it is not something that we take for granted. We will reocmmend this hotel to friends and family who visit Shanghai in future!!

Great experience. Excellent location, clean, friendly staff. We stayed for a week and had breakfast. Breakfast had buffet and menu included. Quality of food was great but for one week and no change in menu was boring. They said they change the menu every 2 weeks and in my opinion that’s too long for same many. I recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I visit Shanghai again.
