Newly renovated rooms, VIP-gold member hiccup
I have been staying in Royal Plaza 4 times since 2013. The rooms were newly renovated in 2019 to a modern look. Somehow I prefer the old rooms better as they feel more luxurious despite the age. The new rooms feel more like a 4 stars hotel room. The check in staffs were efficient and hospitable. Unfortunately, they were unaware that this hotel is a hotels.com VIP property, and that hotels.com gold member guests are entitled to free room upgrade and free 2 hours late checkout. When I checked in and asked them for late checkout, I was told that the hotel is fully booked on the day of my check out so they cannot give me a late checkout. On the day of checkout, after checking my reservation and finding out that this hotel is a hotels.com VIP property, I explained to the check-in staff that hotels.com Gold member guests are entitled to a free upgrade and 2 hours late checkout as shown on the hotels.com listing. None of the other staffs at the front desk were aware as well, and when they checked with another backoffice staff, they came back with the same answer. Only after I showed them the hotels.com confirmation (which was not in English and need to be translated), and the offer on hotels.com app, did they approve the late check out. However, I missed out on a free room upgrade. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed my stay in the Royal Plaza on Scotts, and the check-in staffs were professional and courteous.

Nice Hotel
Hotel was nice and clean. Located at the center of Scotts Road that leads to Orchad Road. A lot of eatery and shopping malls. 5 minutes walk to Ion Orchard where you can find the MRT station at the basement of the mall. Overall, we are satisfied with our stay there and would come back if we ever be in Singapore again next time

Having stayed at this property on4 orher occasions beforw Covid. This time I found that the service level and the benifits offetedto guests has been removed. The room price has drnaticallti creased, coffee pid machines has been removed. The room fridge has been filled with small containers of Apple Juice and other drinks. The service levels of the consiserges has dramatically reduced compared to previous amazing staff. This was once a great hotel with great staff. I wont stay stay at the Royal Plaza on Scott again.

The entrance light inside the room was not working. I didn't bother to complain because its only 1 night stay. Also I thought when I choose deluxe plus, I am getting better view compare with the standard one Apparently my room view was facing the next building with no view at all

Great location , average rooms
The property location is the biggest attraction. The room sizes for this location are adequately big. The hotel however is old and you can see some wear and tear. The reception is a bit understaffed and manages housekeeping so is a bit delayed.

We have been six times to the Royal Plaza and although still clean and tidy. Covid has taken its toil.

The Dining room was extremely noisy and the staff just cleared tables and reset. No personal service. Dirty napkins re used, and the cloth wiping each table was just re used. no sprays to clean. Cereal choices very limited, couldn't find decaffeinated latte as it was self service from a machine. On last morning everyone at breakfast was told at 9.40a.m. that the restaurant was closing at 10.00a.m. TV intermittent. Switch with an outline of a red bell crossed through meant do not clean the room, who knew? There was nothing in the room to explain anything.
