Motel was cool & comfortable. Great bed & good TV. A little expensive. TI has very limited dining options. Shame not at least 1 good restaurant other than the pubs. Overall a memorable place to visit

I was greeted in reception by the owner himself who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the island and it's amenities and activities. If needed, he runs a car hire business and also has a cash out ATM machine. The room was very well appointed, and clean. It had TV, wi-fi, and in-room coffee and bikkie service. There were dishes if you wanted to prepare food on the grill outside, or use the microwave. There are restaurants and a huge supermarket (IBIS) within easy walking distance. I went to the Torres Straight Cultural Center, which is different than the museum on Horn Island. It is free. The Horn Island museum has a lot more historical artifacts of the area and costs $10. Both are worth visiting. The locals keep their culture alive, and there were school kids performing the dances near the hotel, and they let me watch. Very nice, they are happy, and I felt very welcomed on the island.

Our room was a very good size with a comfortable bed and furniture. It was clean with a well equipped kitchenette. The bathroom was very user-friendly and had a great shower. For those staying for several days, I'd expect to have the bins emptied and the condiments topped up daily.

Nice motel in a fascinating place

Small motel that does exactly what it says on the label. They were very helpful and are well-positioned as you come off the ferry - just turn left along the main esplanade and it's the building behind the Federal Hotel (it's nicer than the pub, I promise). It was quiet and they have a no-tolerance policy about noise after 10pm because the motel's used by workers who're in T.I. for short stays and have to get a decent rest. Bed was comfy, shower nice and hot with great pressure, room clean and quiet, and they had a lovely dog called Chino who accepts pats when she's outside. Our ferry didn't go until lunchtime and the management was nice enough to give us a late checkout. A lot of people come to T.I. for a day trip, but an overnight stay is good. We stayed two nights: flew into Horn Island, came over on the ferry in the late afternoon, and had dinner at the Grand Hotel (pub meals - quite good, though not 'gourmet'). The next day we walked up to Green Fort on the hill, then we went to the Gab Titui cultural centre. We walked around the main road on the island, past the hospital, primary schools, high school, cemetery (interesting to see the number of different people who've called T.I. home) and then had a rest before going out for dinner and a drink. The next day we went back to Horn and Cairns. Well worth the schlep all the way up there to see a part of Australia that most Sydneysiders will never see. Not only beautiful but interesting, accessible, and friendly.

Nice motel, with good sized rooms, in a place with limited accommodation. Good room layout, air conditioning and small shaded terrace to enjoy an evening drink outside. Outside seating and 'al fresco' area was nice. Big bathroom. Good TV.

I would return

The motels is simple with no frills but the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff were very welcoming. The location is quite central and close to all the pubs. The beach is just around the corner.

Slightly outdated, but large comfortable and very clean rooms. The reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful with tips of where to eat or go around the island. Good position with supermarket directly behind. Would definitely stay again.
