Most of Horn Island is protected by Native Title, but King Point has been designated as a recreational area so you can picnic, fish and camp. Imagine walking out of your tent to this view??!! Bringing a car across to Horn Island is hugely expensive so you're best way to get here is by foot on the ferry from Thursday Island and catch a taxi or take a tour to get around.

The only way to get to Thursday Island is by ferry - either from the Mainland or Horn Island, which has an airport. Peddels runs a twice-daily ferry service from Seisia at Cape York. It takes a little over an hour and on a good day you'll have a smooth trip and gorgeous views!
Green Hill Fort is a former military base. You can walk around the base and there's a museum in the underground buildings, which you might need to join a tour to see. There's a great view of the neighbouring Torres Strait Islands - just look at that water!!

Motel was cool & comfortable. Great bed & good TV. A little expensive. TI has very limited dining options. Shame not at least 1 good restaurant other than the pubs. Overall a memorable place to visit

Excellent accommodation, bed a little hard but otherwise perfect. Staff very extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here as it’s so close to everything, only short light rail ride to surfers. Love the cheap transport. Will definitely be coming back and staying here again
