"Cons 1. Hairdryer was jammed when we checked in & the head had to be replaced as it was inoperable due to hair jammed into the head of the hairdryer. 2. The website says air-conditioned rooms but staff informed they are air cooled.The first night was very sweaty & uncomfortable to get sleep. Staff asked us to open the window for ventilation.This wasn't an option as this overlooks a highway & lot of traffic noise. 3. "This property was excellent in many ways. Location 2 mins walk from Camara Gaia metro station Pingo Doce supermarket almost opposite. Super value for money Spacious room, with very comfy bed Host was helpful and very available Breakfast included was also very good and tasty, loved the fresh bread rolls. Just be aware it is located on Av Republica so there is some traffic noise."

"The hotel is gorgeous, with vintage and modern decorations. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony when we arrived, which was a lovely surprise. The room was absolutely fine in size, not massive, but I’m from London, so I know that European hotel rooms are generally small. The staff are very professional, in particular one of the young ladies who served the drinks by the pool in the afternoons and evenings, who was very funny, and attentive. "A friend and I stayed at Caleway the night before boarding our AmaWaterways Douro River cruise. We were delighted with the hotel and the staff. We checked in mid afternoon and went off to explore Gaia and Porto. Easy walk to/over the St Luis bridge. Upon our return to the hotel our room had no power and it was the only room without power.
