Deer Harbor Inn
10/10 Excellent
"Our ferry was super late and it was the last one of the night. We were not sure what to expect when we arrived, since there is no front desk and check in was supposed to end at 11 p.m. and it was way past that time. And it was very dark. Unfortunately, we probably made way more noise than we should have because it’s gravel everywhere and we did a loop around all the cute cottages before we realized we were in the main house where we first turned in. The room was charming and the beds were comfortable. We had our coffees in the morning, checked our phones, and then it was time to leave because checkout time was at 10 a.m. Another guest told us we had missed good music at the restaurant on property, called Matthew’s Smokehouse. We’ll have to go back, especially now that we know what to expect."
Earthbox Inn & Spa
8/10 Good
"Kind of loud. Need more insulation and recalculate the tub. Nice location and landscaping. Enjoyed the hot tub"
Trumpeter Inn
10/10 Excellent
"In that beautiful, natural setting, we felt remote, yet we were just a few minutes outside of Friday Harbor. Our room was lovely, comfortable and well-appointed. The bedding and furniture were high quality--right down to the blinds that allowed in light and air while still providing privacy. They thought of every detail to keep us comfortable (bathrobes, fan, beverages, coffee/tea stand, etc.). Claudia's breakfast was wonderful with delicious healthy and comfort-food offerings. One of my favorite parts was feeding the goats and alpacas. What joy. We will be back."

What is the difference between a 4-star and 3-star hotel in Stuart Island?
The most obvious difference between a 3- and 4-star hotel in Stuart Island will be the standard of service and access to creature comforts. Three-star hotels are typically more budget-friendly and include the amenities and services you need to ensure your comfort, such as a gym, breakfast and WiFi. You can look forward to a little more at a 4-star hotel — think upmarket décor, deluxe bathroom products and extras like spa and wellness centres.
What is the difference between a 3-star hotel and a motel in Stuart Island?
Motels generally offer more affordable rates compared to hotels, which makes them ideal if you're road-tripping around Stuart Island on a set budget. A sought-after pick for overnight trips, these roadside getaways have simply furnished rooms, limited services and on-site parking. Opt for a 3-star hotel and you can expect to pay more for additional space, comfort and amenities. Guests can take advantage of things like a lobby, free WiFi and meeting rooms at this property type.
