"We had a lovely one night stay at Ferncliff, it was just lovely and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend as a very well run ‘b&b’ type hotel but much more luxurious. Bernard in particular was fantastic, especially his cooking — we had both dinner and breakfast there. Very glad we chose this over the ‘grand hotel’ in the end. "

"We had a pleasant stay here. The rooms are comfortable, but there’s nothing special about the hotel itself. The location is very handy for a walk through Galway Park and it’s out of the bustle of town. Restaurant is fine. The surrounding area is a bit hilly if you want to walk around. "

"We had a very enjoyable and comfortable two days stay. No complaints. Our room was nice and spacious, with a bay window and seating area. You do need to be a bit agile to climb out of the shower, which is over a bath with high sides. We tried several of the restaurants and the cafe. All were good. Service can be a bit patchy, but really, who cares when you are in such lovely premises with outstanding garden areas. We were very pleased to have chosen to spend two nights here; one night is not...

"Service in the dining room was uneven, slow and haphazard. The place looks tired and timeworn. This could be our last stay at the Hioll Club."

"This hotel was just average. The grounds and gardens around the hotel were beautiful and well maintained, but they can do a better job with the interior. The sheets had tears in them and the towels looked very worn. We were also informed that the wifi would not be working during our stay. All the rooms are located in one building, the walls are very thin so you can hear other guests talking and doors closing. Staff was wonderful!"

"The property location and gardens stunning amongst the hills, but 4-5km from town. Rooms were really lovely and most staff friendly. However for the price of the property and what they offer leaves a lot to be desired. Thought the buffet was just very average, service on drinks very slow( or they’d even forget) One bottle of water in your room and if you wanted anymore you had to purchase.
