"Akan is an awesome place, and Hanayuuka hotel is a perfect place to stay in it. The lake is literally less than a minute walk from the terrace doors, and so is the cruise ship and motor boat places. The entrance to Kamuy Lumina (a fantastic night show about an ainu legend in the forest) is also very close.
