"The hotel is in close proximity to old town Basel. When we checked in our room was not ready, but Desiree gave us maps which include voucher for free tram/buses & 25% off museums. When we returned to check in, Jeremy "helped" us ~ passports, check your info, here's your keys ~ NO welcome to Basel, breakfast is served daily, if you need any assistance during your stay. . . . Sort of set me off ~ we were still ~ thank you. The room amenities were nice. We had a family suite with 2 twins & sleeper sofa ~ very large room ~ more lighting on the twin bed side would be helpful. Every other front desk employee, maid service were very nice! We especially enjoyed an end of the night/closing the bar with Igor, the bartender ~ he was very personable & gave us a voucher for a last night drink ~"
Hotel D - Basel - Boutique Hotel

"The Hotel D is a nice hotel conveniently located for local transit. The room was comfortable, the shower area needs maintenance to repair the shower door bottom seal; it would leak under and soak the bath mat towel. It would be nice if the hotel had a restaurant or bar/lounge. The breakfast was very good, except hot items were only kept in cast iron crocks so after some time the contents were lukewarm. But all things considered a good choice."

"This hotel was clean, comfortable and so convenient to all the sites we wished to visit i Basel. The staff went of and beyond!!! They were all so friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, breakfast lovely, and the room was spacious!"
Riverside Hotel Merian - opening 2026

"My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Merian! We had a beautiful room on the fourth floor overlooking the Rhine, and the views were simply spectacular. One of our favorite memories was standing outside on our balcony, taking in the gorgeous river and city views, especially with the Ferris wheel from the Autumn Festival (Herbstmesse) lighting up the skyline. It was such a magical way to experience Basel! The location couldn't have been better. We were within easy walking distance of countless restaurants, shops, and several of the Autumn Festival locations, making it the perfect home base for exploring the city. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Since Basel was new to us, we especially appreciated their wonderful recommendations and guidance, which made navigating the city and discovering local gems so easy. The breakfast was also lovely, with a great variety of delicious options to start each morning. We had such a wonderful experience and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our visit to Basel. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Hotel Merian to anyone visiting this beautiful city!"
HYPERION Hotel Basel

"We stayed at the Hyperion at short notice when our return flight from Basel to the UK was cancelled at short notice. The room was quite small but clean and well-equipped and with a good view to the east. The front desk staff were very helpful with replenishing supplies for the coffee machine in the room and dealing very quickly with a fault on the room safe. We had to leave the hotel at 4:30 am to catch the replacement flight so appreciated the 24 hour front desk service."

"A member of my party was under the weather by the time we reached Basel. I had contacted them asking to see if we could have an earlier check-in to rest. The staff on duty got us in earlier than scheduled and was utterly sweet. Hats off to you and your team of understanding polyglots. We had booked an upstairs/downstairs room. The novelty wore out quickly, because there was only one sink/bathroom upstairs. Not their fault. We learn. We were also fortunate that when we got in, there was a huge fair running outside the hotel. We had food and fun times without going too far!"

"This property is located on the border , which makes it perfect if you wanna stay in budget and plan to visit Switzerland. All trams and buses are near this location. 100% would recommend it."
