"The setting here is truly hard to beat — perched right on the lake with easy trails just steps away, it's the kind of place that reminds you why you travel. The sunsets over the water alone are worth the trip.
The restaurant was genuinely the highlight of our stay; every meal was delicious and we left each time thoroughly impressed. The property is also very walkable, and while it does draw a crowd, the atmosphere never felt overwhelming.
A few things to keep in mind before booking: the lake-view rooms are absolutely worth requesting, though be aware they're a bit of a walk from the main lodge. The front desk staff, while friendly, felt a little disorganized during check-in — something to factor in if you're arriving at a busy time. On the bright side, they did offer us an upgrade at check-in, which was a lovely surprise.
We did have one unsettling incident during our stay. We were in a first-floor room, and the noise from the guests above us was significant enough that a ceiling lamp actually came loose and shattered. It gave us quite a fright. When we reported it, the staff member sent to help seemed unsure of how to handle the cleanup, and we ended up pitching in ourselves. In the end, the hotel waived the charge for our upgrade as a gesture of goodwill, which we appreciated.
Despite that, watching the sun sink below the lake from our room had a way of putting everything in perspective. A beautiful property with real potential — just a few rough edges to iron out."
