"We arrived early on an international flight and left our luggage in their holding room. When we came back to check in there was literally so much luggage in the room we couldn’t even find our luggage. We then went to our room only to find we had been given a key to a room that was already occupied. We went back down to reception where they were very apologetic and immediately gave us a different room. With that said once we got to our room we were very happy with our stay. The hotel has a great location and is good value for money."

"We had a great 2-night stay at the Volkshotel. The staff were always pleasant and very helpful. The ground-floor cafe was nice and very convenient. (Good to know: When we were there, on weekends, the hotel restaurant and cafe only opened for breakfast at 8 a.m. It seems to be an Amsterdam thing as nothing close by was open either.) Because we were heading out on an excursion, we found a place open for coffee closer to our excursion meeting point. I also liked the location of the hotel. It is in an interesting neighbourhood and within easy reach of the metro. When I made our booking I was a little concerned that we would be older than the usual clientele, but I needn’t have worried. The hotel staff make sure all feel welcome. And bonus! We were offered a free upgrade from a cabin to a room with a bathroom. Very nice!"

"From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The whole hotel had such a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, with a fantastic vibe throughout. The quality of the hotel and the genuinely lovely staff made our stay that little bit more special. Our four-year-old daughter had the best time and absolutely loved every minute of it! A brilliant experience for the whole family, and somewhere we’d happily return to."

"Waiting for 15 min at the table to order I see that no waiter is coming so I decide to walk to the waiter to let her know that I am ready to order. Her answer was sorry Sir the chef closed the kitchen so you can not order anymore. And this was actually before closing time for dinner. That got for the Mcsonald next door otherwise there is nothing else in the direct area to get something to eat."
