I stayed on the third floor, and on my visit in April 2025, my room was on the second floor. In both instances, there was a very distinctive miasma of urine, curry, and green smoke in the hall. The heat in the stove burners was low in both rooms. It has taken disconcertingly long to receive my $100 deposit back for both - the current one is still outstanding. Why is this a practice on top of the room bill? What if the value of the damage exceeds $100? If damage occurs to the room, simply charge the card on file for the commensurate amount rather than inconveniencing travelers so egregiously. This completely offsets the perceived value of the room in comparison with another hotel's that charges more up front.
Ryan is an asset to the company. I remembered him from my last visit, and he always has a great demeanor, very pleasant and easygoing yet firm. I never felt uncomfortable or burdensome running down to ask him for a trash bag or a linen swap. Very rare kind of individual in an often-arduous industry, whom I hope to see again if I return next time I visit Ann Arbor.
