"Room was a good size but rather hot. Apparently, a/c system was in winter mode. Opening windows was rather noisy from street/people activity. Excellent breakfast. Even though coffee machine in room did not always work properly, a staff member came to look at it immediately. Very nice staff. No restaurant, other than for breakfast. There was a bar, but it was not open on Sunday. Very good location for visiting St Gallen by foot and very close to station."

"Couldn't have been better or cleaner or easier to manage! And laundry was free! In a country where things are so expensive relative to home, this was a nice gift. "Hotel Hecht is an excellent Appenzell hotel for travelers. We stayed three nights. Our room was recently updated and on the quiet back side of the building. Breakfast was included so we started each day with a good self serve continental breakfast. Because we were staying for three nights we were provided a “Appenzell Visitor Card”. It covered our local travel on train and bus, admission to museums and the Hoher Kasten cable car. The hotel manager, kitchen manager and all the staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating."
