I stayed at Chicago Hotel Collection for two nights in March and unfortunately had a very poor experience.
At first the price seems attractive, but almost everything requires an additional fee. If you choose not to pay for upgrades or extra services, they place you in a very undesirable room. My room was on a low floor facing another apartment building, and the windows were blurry/frosted, so there was essentially no view.
There were also many basic amenities missing. There is no coffee in the rooms, and the coffee machines in the lobby were limited and some of them were not even working. There is no complimentary bottled water, and you are charged for almost everything.
Housekeeping was not provided daily, which was disappointing for a hotel.
The most frustrating part was the staff experience during check-in. I arrived around 11 PM and the staff member was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful.
While the location is good, the overall experience was not worth the price. If you are going to pay extra for basic amenities anyway, you are much better off staying at places like Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Swissôtel Chicago, or Hyatt Regency Chicago, where you actually receive proper service.
I would not recommend staying here.
