"It is a pleasure to write a review of Casa das Capelas. It is a large and beautiful, fully renovated, historical building, set in lovely grounds. My excellent room looked out over rolling countryside. So peaceful. And the owners were extremely hospitable. There is a great patio to have a glass of wine, meet a few locals and eat a light dinner. Highly recommended. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in the area."

"The Parador has amazing history and location. It sits over looking Monforte de Lemos, which is an ok walk down to the town but is a little challenging walking back up (there is a taxi rank in the town). The room we had looked out over the entrance and was large and clean but lacked style / a plushness considering it’s the best hotel in town. It was unfortunate that the pool area was closed, so bar the court yard for drinks / food there were no outside spaces to relax. We ate lunch on arrival...

"Absolutely beautiful place to stay . Captures everything I loved about the Camino . Surrounded by fields , set in quintessential gardens with a horreo and intimate seating areas . Somewhere to dry your handwashing too ! All the staff we met were very helpful- including the driver who picked us up in Palai de Rei . Food good too . Unfortunately they had a power cut whilst we were there but the staff were amazing- candles were placed around and they still made our dinner which was delicious. Not lots of choice but we were cool with that too . I would recommend ❤️"

"The place is spectacular. The staff was very helpful. Could benefit from a good cleaning. The food was terrible. We have eaten some very nice meals in many paradores but here, no can do. Even the food in the cafeteria was mediocre. It is a pity bcs it is very convenient to be able to eat right there. Needs improvement."

"Beautiful hotel right as you enter Portimarin on the Camino . We were made very welcome by Sylvia . Our room was spotless ( as was the hotel ) , comfortable bed and lovely room - quiet enough to get a great nights sleep. Breakfast was buffet style and just enough before we set off on our travels . Coffee excellent. I would definitely recommend here ."

"The setting is fantastic, almost on a mountain top. The hotel is an old monastery with 3ft wide walls and wonderful views of nature. They have a full spa to relax. We took one of the many walking routes around the hotel. Highly recommend if you like hiking through tons of greenery. The temperature was warm during the day and cool at night. All personnel we interacted with was very helpful and amicable. I recommend contacting the hotel directly if you are not driving from Ourense, our navigator got a bit confused."
