"This was the second time this year that we stayed at the Essenhaus. Room was clean and comfortable and quiet! Check-in was fast and the staff here is friendly and helpful! We enjoyed the hot breakfast but wish they had granola to go along with the yogurt. We highly recommend The Essenhaus!"

"When I came into the town of Shipshewana at 3ish I noticed that the traffic signals was not working and found out before checking in that there was no electricity in the entire town because of a storm overnight. So I went ahead and put my luggage in the room and continued on to my destination in town that had a generator running. I came back to the hotel at 8pm and found out that it still didn't have power. "There are no glaring negatives to this property for us. The room was smaller than expected, but the bathroom was large. The staff seemed easily distracted. When we checked in the staff seemed to be in need of a big cup of coffee. When we were trying to check out the man was on his cell phone. "They no longer have a hot tub. And I was charged two dollars when I had paid my reservation in full prior to staying there. When I inquired, they said it was a housekeeping charge. That is just wrong and I will not stay there anymore, They did not disclose their hidden charge."
