"A beautiful view but not a great option if you have any kind of mobility issues. Be prepare to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs. No elevators anywhere. That qualification aside, a beautiful place ."

"We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. "We really enjoyed our stay. Francisco was the best -very friendly, great service, and fantastic recommendations for dinner, boat tour, and other quintas to visit. It was nice to meet the owners as well and talk with them about the harvest season. Will definitely recommend and will come back the next time we’re in the Douro."
