Work trip
Present stay at the Royal Angus.
Parking was easy to access at the rear of the property.
Food is decent and well cooked, rooms are tired and bathrooms are tiny but according to signs on the walls refurbs are happening ?
Location to town is very convenient.
Staff are very friendly
It’s central, breakfast fine, good car parking, fine for a night, not much shopping around, too many empty shops in the area for any more than one night
Nice comfortable hotel. Room was comfortable. Staff are friendly. Breakfast good.
Minor complaint was the sink in the room was slow to drain. Rooms are not the most modern, but comfortable. Being there for a weekend, people from the nightclub downstairs were a little noisy outside, but not unbearable.
Absolutely loved the atmosphere and different sitting rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good, even had a vegan option. Also the cute parrot was an added bonus.
Loved this area and the hotel staff! Everyone super nice and helpful.
The area was great! It had many shops and some restaurants. I recommend Ruby nail salons (great pedicure and massage chairs!). I also must mention that I had an excellent massage therapy session with Suzanne at Saatva Wellness Center!
As to the hotel, dining was really good! On-site was a pool and sauna. There is an elevator from ground to first floor only. I was very grateful to be able to get a first floor room as I have mobility issues. The room I had was very nice! Lovely view of other local area and neighbor garden from my room. Nice size bathroom. Beautiful outside seating area. Great breakfast and bakery offerings in the lobby.
Only minor disappointment: hot tub not working in the pool area.

Good basic hotel
This is a good basic hotel, think it may be in the process of being refurbished.
Had a problem with my room, they changed rooms and apologised profusely.
Friendly staff and good full breakfast.
I was visiting friends so was out all day.

Nice break
Quiet enjoyable break. Rooms and shower warm, service friendly and hotel clean. Jus one or two bits needed attention, however, they have signs stating that they are currently upgrading. Breakfast was great to start you off and the pool and gym are a bonus. Location good for walks and facilities in the town. We would come back for another stay if in Forfar
First impressions were not brilliant, ie walking through alleyway from car park, meeting some young lads with skateboards using it as a shortcut. Staff were welcoming and efficient. The room (24) was warm. However, the refurb is badly needed (notice about it in the hall). I was surprised that you had to ask for a hairdryer, and also at the poor provision of toiletries. However the biggest issue for me was the quality of the bed and the pillows. The bed was truly awful. I have stayed in camping pods on campsites with mattresses much better than this one. The pillows badly need to be replaced too. On the positive side, there were plenty of milks on the hostess tray and decaf coffee as well as regular. The breakfast was fine and served quickly. All the staff I met were fine. The shower was good, but no bath math. Even if refurbishment is planned, I would have thought the most basic thing in a hotel is a comfortable bed and decent pillows. That would have tipped the balance for me.

Stopped overnight for business. Internal signs suggested improvement work was underway. I expected the bedroom door to close properly, aren't they fire doors? When I got into my room I thought the connecting door had been left open into the next room. However I soon realised it was left open because the other room had the bathroom. Perhaps they should have told me this at reception.
Loved the food, and the hospitality though.
Perhaps there should be signs directing you to the car park too.
Overall perfectly happy with the hotel and would use again. Oh yeah try talking to the parrot..

Nice small hotel with character and a gym!
A great little hotel with plenty of character. What it lacks in moderness it makes up with the enthusiasm of the staff. I spoke with one of the staff and there is a rolling program of upgrades so I can't give it top marks for condition but it will get them I'm assured so.
When we arrived we noticed that the toilet seat was loose, the room had seen better days, the floor in the room and bathroom was slopping, we were told that that house keeping would be done every two days. The toilet seat was reported three time, the final time Mo the receptionist came up and tried to fix it, but she was unable too, but said she would get it replaced in the morning which she did herself, she also replaced the towels and toiletries as house keeping hadn't taken place. We never seen house keeping the whole time we where there, we stayed from the 16th July until the 20th July. Mo is a really friendly lady who was willing to go the extra mile which was very much apricated, the breakfast and staff were the only positive part of the stay.
Reception was friendly upon arrival but room was essentially a box. Walk in wardrobe style bathroom. Parrot knocking about somewhere in reception. Pretty grim surroundings. Breakfast was very poor.
Needs updating fusty smell in room running tap extraction fan in toilet very dusty went for breakfast no one there turned up 8.30 we just left

Main complaint was about size of room. Nowhere to sit in room apart from the bed. No bedside table on one side. So eg for the time I had to disturb my wife who had one on her side.
In bathroom there were no mixer taps in the sink and traditional ones there did not match and were hard to shut.
Mattress did not have enough foam on the springs so one felt the springs.
Otherwise car park was good and breakfast was fine.
I booked there because one can check in late.

Decent enough place.
We used the Royal Hotel for attending a wedding just outside Forfar. It is a basic hotel which has a pool which was nice enough although the sauna was out of action. The hotel having a car park helps. The room was smallish and the toilet/shower room was a bit cramped. The bed was hard and small. Our Tv was not working but they quickly fixed that.
