Top Gjogv Hotel Reviews

Hotel Runavik
8/10 Good
"Great location close to shops, supermarket, cafes and harbour and not nearly as hilly as Torshavn. Very comfortable bed, good sized room (we paid extra for larger room) small but adequate bathroom. Amazing harbour views. Mini fridge in room was useful. Coffee maker with 2 free capsules, 1 teabag. 2 glasses but no cups, no spoon, no milk or sugar. Recommend eye mask if you find it hard to sleep in light. Breakfast was good, same hot items every day but good variety of other things. No decaf tea or coffee but this was hard to find anywhere on the islands. Parking was easy. Lovely walks nearby including a walk round a lake near the leisure centre."

Unique Boathouse - Central - Kajak - Fitness
10/10 Excellent
"We had a great stay, thank you. Convenient location, however the only downside was that only afterwards we realised that the cost of Eysturoyartunnilin was not included in our unlimited tunnels extra that we added with our car rental but that was on us for not checking this. However we had a great stay, kitchen was well equipped and not had any issues with anything. Thank you"

Luxurious Farm House | Á Snætu | Unique
10/10 Excellent
"It was a beautiful stay. We loved staying in the smaller town, great easy hikes all around, super walkable. The bus stop is right down the hill and easy to reach from all the surrounding cities. I recommend renting a car, as the bus schedule can be limited and taxis can be very pricey. The house was so amazing, I would recommend caution as the stairs are quite steep and could be hazardous for anyone with mobility issues. All in all, amazing. Thank you!"

Lítlastova | A Charming Boathouse Getaway
10/10 Excellent
"Overall a 4.7 rating. I would absolutely book with them again if I ever return to the Faroe Islands. But it's about expectations. The three of us who stayed in the boathouse don't require much. The common area was wonderful, with a view of the channel, the breakwater, and the small harbor. It was the perfect place to sit with a cup of coffee to watch the sky lighten in the morning, or have dinner and drinks in the evening after a long day exploring the islands. I love that there was a kitchenette where I could make breakfast for our trio before we headed out for the day. The boathouse was clean, well-kept, and very cosy. You'll need a rental car because it's in the middle of nowhere (which is part of what makes it great). There are two grocery stores, a liquor store, and two pizza places within a 5-minute drive. A couple "warnings" for travelers used to nice hotel rooms: 1) The beds (and the rooms they're in) are *tiny*. My bed was about 18" (0.5m) wide. That's not a complaint, just information. 2) For North Americans: bed linens are European-style "bottom sheet and duvet w/ cover". If you're looking for NA-style bedding, you'll want to look elsewhere. 3) Hot water for showers is limited. Set the temperature to "warm" and the flow to "eco" and you'll get a good shower. Lítlastova is an absolutely wonderful place to stay for those who want a cozy place to stay and can take care of themselves."

Greystone House - Historic - Unique
8/10 Good
"The house is beautiful and the view is lovely. We watched the boats on the water for hours. The dish washer did have mold and the shower had a bubble in the wall. The water was also somewhat low pressure if that matters to you. The place really does nail the modern comforts with traditional aesthetic. The signing book was an adorable touch. Really enjoyed the place we doubled up in the two rooms and still had plenty of room to ourselves. The location gives one easy access to the nearby towns for shopping and food and the nearby families make the whole place feel safer. If noise is a factor the place is just above a pretty major roadway"

visitHOMES Faroe Islands
10/10 Excellent
"I had the most incredible stay at visitHOMES in Leirvík. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. The host, Lilja, is truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, so welcoming, thoughtful, and genuinely caring, which made the whole experience even more special. The accommodation itself is so cozy and beautifully kept, the perfect place to relax and unwind after exploring the Faroe Islands. Every detail felt intentional and comforting. Breakfast was such a highlight each morning, absolutely incredible. Lilja prepares everything herself using local ingredients and takes the time to explain what she’s made, which makes it feel so personal and special. Sitting in her kitchen enjoying a fresh, delicious breakfast was such a memorable and cozy experience. I also have to mention Simba, the adorable cat, such a sweet and calming presence. I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for a warm, authentic, and memorable stay in the Faroes, this is it."

Cozy House In The Idyllic Village Of Haldórsvík
10/10 Excellent
"A cozy little place with everything we needed. My party loved listening to the radio and looking out at the lovely view over dinner. The village was beautiful and quiet which suited us swell. We had an initial issue with the washer not being plugged in and the host was so quick to respond and solve the thing. "

A Pearl In A Forgotten Fjord - Luxury Boathouse
10/10 Excellent
"Loved my stay here! Although I traveled solo, there is sufficient room for a large family/group. The view of the fjord is extraordinary, and I found myself sitting and watching the beautiful wildlife for hours. The adjustable LED lighting in the kitchen/living room area is a very nice touch, and there are separate indirect heating thermostats to control different parts of the home. The houseboat is situated in a perfect location for driving out of Esturoy and visiting places like Gjógv, Slættaratindur, or many other places of interset for visitors. While nice and secluded, the nearest grocery or Rusan's is only ~16-20 minutes away."
