"The Hotel is very well placed in Lyndhurst at the top of the town. We had a snug double room which was at the back of the hotel, so no road noise which was good. The facilities were very good in the room, such as kettle, tea, coffee etc. There were a couple of issues, one being the bath plug was blocked so the shower waste water just stayed in the bath and drained very slowly. Also, being at the back of the hotel we were right above the staff smoking shelter and heard they staff there early in the morning smoking and chatting and also had the smell of smoke coming through the window at times and for a non smoker this is not very pleasant. The breakfast were good, plenty to choice from and well stocked. Overall the hotel is a lovely place, with a lovely back garden to sit and enjoy a drink and the staff were very polite and welcoming. Would stay there again but would request a different room. I would recommend this hotel."
"VERY BUSY PLACE, WITH THE GYM AND SPORTS FACILTIES FOR LOCALS OR GUESTS.
FOOD THE SAME AS IN EVERY VILLAGE INN. GOOD SELECTION. AIR CON AND LARGE TV, GOOD SHOWER ETC. RECOMMENDED"
"This could have been an excellent review but for breakfast. Room was great, clean and a good size. Shower and bathroom clean and spacious. WiFi worked great. Outdoor areas looked good and the pool area looked fantastic. Unfortunately I was not able to swim because breakfast was so chaotic with not enough staff and buffet food replenished too slowly. It took almost 30 minutes before I was able to get a breakfast plate with everything I wanted. No glasses, no bowls (I ate cereal from a cup) and no bread. At times when there was bacon there were no eggs. Then no mushrooms....it went on and on. I finished up grabbing one thing and waiting for the next by which time the first things were cold. I mentioned the difficulties at breakfast to reception upon checking out and was told "so I've heard". I mentioned I would have liked a swim but it's check out time now and that was met with silence. Pity"
"Hotel full of character, undergoing renovation in places but improvements have been made since we were last there.
Dinner service was very good and if the weather’s nice it has a lovely patio area out back for dinner and a drink.
Shame the pool was closed though."
"Checked in, no towels and no toilet paper. Had to ask the cleaner, they then re directed me to the reception for them to then give it. Apart from that good stay."
"Loved: facilities, staff, food fantastic. Spa wonderful but some minor repairs required. Nothing to detract from our stay. Enjoyed tasting menu with wine flight and also James Martin’s restaurant. All in all a great stay, would definitely like to return"
"This was our first ever stay in Winchester. The staff at the hotel were warm and welcoming and took our baggage and stored this safely as we had arrived earlier than expected. Our room was spacious and clean.
The reception team and health spa staff were magnificent and were able to deal with each and every one of our requests. The spa itself was exceptionally clean, due to the staff who clearly take pride in their work.
The breakfast buffet had a good range of hot options as well as cereals, croissants and pastries and the coffee was good. The breakfast team were highly professional and welcoming. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Winchester Hotel and Spa which is in walking distance from the train station and historic City centre."
"Had an amazing stay. Staff were all very helpful. Really went above and beyond with lovely little touches in room especially for the kids who loved it! Would love to stay again in the future. Breakfast was lovely too! Highly recommend"
