Wonderful dog friendly hotel lovely English speaking owners. Able to walk our dogs in the acres of grounds. Breakfast was fabulous. Loved this hotel. Will definitely use again.

Our host at Au Fer à Cheval was Romain, a friendly and helpful man. He owns about 20 English thoroughbred race horses, as well as breeds them. His farm is in a beautiful location with lovely views. It was unfortunately cold and wet for the two nights that we were there, so we couldn't use the pool, and the roads were too slippery for him to take us out in his horse-drawn carriage, but we did see two of his retired racing mares with their foals. Unfortunately my wife became very ill and we could not go to France. I was so distracted I forgot to cancel the hotel. The owner was so kind and refused payment even though I was a no show and he was entitled to full charge. Quite remarkable generosity. I will go and stay ASAP.

We love this hotel staff are great food is really good garden is fabulous beds are really comfy and always clean just a shame it doesn’t have air conditioning and would be nice to have a kettle in the room to make tea and coffee apart from that I can not fault it

The hitel needs a bit of modernisation if compared with other Ibis, but the room was clean and stuff was friendly. Good breakfast as well.

Gorgeous little hotel where nothing is too much of a problem and they are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The grounds are lovely with a river/stream flowing through at the bottom. We felt immediately relaxed after a long car journey. The only regret was not being able to enjoy the fine dining restaurant, as we were travelling with our dog. The bistro also in the hotel, however, where we could have our pet had some very good food. Look forward to a third return.

The owners could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our room (thankfully air-conditioned given the 40 degree heat!) was amazing, with wonderfully comfortable bed and great shower. Sumptuous breakfast. Bellême is a fascinating little town. We shall look forward to returning!

Receptionists where very kind and helpful. The SPA is only for adults. The rooms are nice, modern and clean. The location is right in the center of the city.
