This abandoned church for example is located in Karnataka and is somewhere in the middle of a village. It was built by French missionaries in the 19th century but was abandoned after the construction of the Hemavati Dam and Reservoir. What's remarkable about this site is that church is submerged in rainwater in the monsoons and its popularity has been on an upward trend mostly by word of mouth from lads who take off on weekend adventures to explore places that are off the beaten path.
