"It was quiet and peaceful, there was only one other couple staying there at the time. We were able to book our room last minute with no issues. There are two ways to reach the location if you are coming from the south: one of them is a gravel road, so you might want to pick your route carefully to be easiest on your car, but both routes are fully operational without any closures. Altogether, the guesthouse was a nice break from the often hectic pace of vacation travel."

"I was very nervous about the check in process, considering the other reviews posted. We had no issues at all. There was a code sent to us, the lobby was unlocked (and unstaffed) and the lockbox with our room key opened easily. The lobby and rooms were beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. A couple of things to note: First, Hotels.com says that late check-in is after 11 pm. The company emailed us to tell us late check-in stops after 9 pm the same day as our check-in. We had already planned on arriving past nine, hence my anxiety about it. I called the number provided at least 10 times between 4 pm-9 pm and no one ever picked up. This is aligned with other people's experiences, so buyer beware. You will be stuck if they don't email you the code. Second, once we got in the room, there were other numbers available to try to call. I tried to include the numbers but I was not allowed. If you get stuck and don't have the code, hopefully one of your fellow travelers will provide you with the other contact info that is in the room. Hotels. com really should make these available. Finally, don't rely on the hot tub being available/functional (it was lukewarm and the next day the drained it to clean it). The breakfast spread was very similiar to another location where we stayed (multiple bread/pastry products, some meat items, cheese) so I was expecting to have to substitute my own items because I have dietary restrictions but what was available that I could eat was good."

"My family of 4 stayed at Midgard for one night during our trip through Iceland due to its strategic location for those traveling west to southeast. At first, I was concerned bringing a family with kids to a hostel-type accomodation but that was not a problem at all. The place is very safe, well maintained, great ambiance, quiet at night, there is a common area very well decorated with board games, couches, etc and a common kitchen with a fridge and all necessary utensils. We also had dinner at their restaurant and the food was delicious, and service was impeccable! Connected to the place is a guided adventures business, which we did not use (because we were not aware going in) but it looked very organized. Cherry on the cake: they had 2 pet dogs (looked like black labs) that were the cutest and friendliest. I'd definitely stay there again!"

"The staff was very friendly at this hotel. The breakfast was ridiculously priced and had honestly pathetic offerings. Yet at the same on site restaurant, the dinner options were amazing and some of the best food we had in Iceland. The lamb stew, lamb steak, and fried fish were absolutely delicious. The parking was easy and more than one lot was available. The location is excellent but don't turn right if you plan to go anywhere. As of August 2027, at least, there is is major construction but if you go left you will get to the main riads faster."

"The breakfast was exceptional. There was an amazing variety, kept well stocked by a very pleasant, helpful and capable woman. All the staff were very welcoming and polite. The recommendation for a restaurant nearby the evening we arrived was superb. Best lamb we have ever had. The setting of the hotel was beautiful and peaceful. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay again some time."
