"The location was excellent just a short walk to Moto-Hakone and nearby restaurants. The walk back uphill is definitely doable, but I’d recommend taking a taxi, especially after a long day out. The home itself is tucked away in the mountains, offering a peaceful and private setting. It was beautifully designed and comfortably accommodated our family of six. "I think the hotel was not as good as we expected. We arrived tired -after a wedding in Tokyo - and the check in staff grill you with so many questions “what time for dinner” (but there are limited options so you don’t have much choice), “what time for breakfast tomorrow”, same thing for the following days … they even asked “what time do you want housekeeping tomorrow?”! And then they said they had a spa - I said I’d like a massage and they said they were all booked for our dates! But no one had communicated with me in advance to offer massage services so I could book. Also the dinner both nights repeated “Main Meal 1” (their term) -despite the affectation of being so custom. Finally as we checked out we found someone’s socks in the drawer behind the safe deposit box! "
