Smiles Beach Hotel

"Think this is a great place to stay for families and couples I saw they offer a romantic dinner on the beach I went alone and would say there are more affordable and social options for solo travellers in nungwi But the location is great it’s not a far walk to main part of nungwi Staff were very helpful and could arrange transport for you but id recommend just walking 5 minutes into nungwi and you can get tuk tuks for cheaper travel The breakfast was good lots of options with fresh fruit and eggs cooked to order I would definitely recommend this place for couples and families but not as much for solo travellers Still had a great stay non the less"
Zuri Zanzibar

"Overall the Zuri was outstanding- we could not fault anything. We’re not buffet fans - however the quality, choice and freshness of each buffet was exceptional. There were also other dining options - the al a carte restaurant is super and we enjoyed an amazing beach BBQ. You will not be disappointed with the food. The resort was well laid out meaning the villas are very private. The villas themselves are gorgeous and very comfortable- inclusive of an air conditioning system for the bed - which we’ve never seen before and was appreciated. The cleaning and turn down was to a very high standard. The beach is amazing as are the sunsets and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening entertainment provided at sunset. The highlight was the pool - it’s great and definitely ranks in our top 3 pools from any resort. It’s a proper pool for swimming and there are plenty of beds and shade so it never felt busy. Finally the staff - wow - friendly, attentive and just brilliant. We were so sad leaving this resort as we enjoyed it so much and we hope to return one day."
Hotel Riu Jambo - All Inclusive

"Sunset views were amazing. My room was great and housekeeping staff were awesome, help me decorate for my hubby bday, got us champagne and a cake. The gym was ok, some machines did not work or broken. The massage therapist was not so good, we booked couples massage and it wasnt worth it. I loved everything about the resort except entertainment nights were boring, dj could play better music (excluding Riu party) and the buffet was my nightmare. Same food offered every night, every station, the chef left red meat medium well, still saw blood. My husband and I had to pretend we had reservations to go try one of the restaurants on property. The best restaurant was the asain fusion restaurant next to the buffet. All the other restaurant food was blahhh. I spent 8 days here. I know it was off season but why food options not rotated daily. The drinks were mediocre, the juice was not even fresh it was powered mixed in water to taste like pineapple juice. Just the food was why I put 3 stars. The pools were great, staff were great, (Jambo, Jambo) beach walks were great, the buffet food could use upgrade on selections and taste. I came to Africa to eat African cuisine and flavors, the buffet offered American and other country food. Give me Zanzibar authentic food. I would refer others to this resort for everything else except food & spa."

"The hotel and room are spotless, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They offer a wide variety of breakfast options, and the spa is simply amazing. We also thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant, which serves delicious food and has an impressive selection of wine labels."

"At this price point, this hotel is a 10/10. It is in walking distance to local bars and restaurants. Nungwi Beach is about a 10 to 15 minute walk. The walk is not bad at all. You can opt to get a Boda Boda or Tuk Tuk ride to the beach, which cost about $1. And finally, the staff are exceptional. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the breakfast because I never eat breakfast."
