"The historic Montvale has a lot of vintage character and boutique hotel appeal. It's located downtown in easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Inside, there is a large atrium with rooms located around the periphery, but it felt very quiet, almost too much so--the nice lounge furniture was never occupied. Our room was spacious, with cool historic art on the walls, but it was very dark once daylight was gone. No overhead lights in the high ceiling, and inadequate lamps. Too dark to pack a suitcase easily at nighttime. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom. The hotel provides a voucher for breakfast across the road at a sister property. But breakfast doesn't include coffee or tea! The Montvale has a coffee station of its own, but when you go to sit down at a restaurant for an included hotel breakfast, coffee should be included. Also, the two guys at the front desk (one was a trainee) could have used a bit more professionalism in their appearance and attire."
