The staff team was very good, professional and courteous. Our room (#3) was a corner room and looked out into the courtyard. It was comfortable, security was good, breakfast was very generous and most of all, it was a relaxing atmosphere.

Hotel was fantastic ! Arranged for pick up at airport and all went so smooth , greeted by Samira at the front desk with a big smile , the grounds , the room and the breakfast was wonderful ! Located by everything The peacocks outside added to the beauty ! I truly believe this is a winner !

Fantastic hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. Henri on reception went beyond the call of duty with his offer to give us a lift in the golf-buggy in the pouring rain. Our room was delightful; comfortable and clean, with a lovely view of the courtyard with its resident peacocks. The endless supply of delicious food and drink at breakfast and cakes and drinks throughout the afternoon and evening was a great source of pleasure to come back to. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

The rooms and the public areas lived up to my expectations of a heritage hotel. But the bathroom in our room on the top floor has seen its better time and does need touching up. Besides, we noticed a puddle of water on the bathroom floor every time we showered. We were sure the shower door was closed. So apparently there are plumbing issues that need to be addressed. The towels we placed on the bathroom floor were soaking wet every time after we showered. It was not only annoying but downright hazardous.

Hotel location was quite inconvenient to get to as it was a steep hike up a cobbled stone pathway each time, so not ideal for end of the day after you’ve already done a whole day of sightseeing. The hotel staff were nice overall but some could be friendlier and show more enthusiasm. It also would’ve been nice if they offered free entry to the nearby castle, seeing as it’s the only hotel right beside it. The hotel itself was small but charming, with the facilities being quite outdated but adding to the charm of the historical place. Breakfast had a small but satisfying variety of healthy and both sweet and savory options which I appreciated. I also loved the complimentary flask of porto wine which was waiting for us in our room upon check in and seeing the beautiful peacocks stroll around the hotel from our window / during breakfast.

What’s not to love? This wonderful hotel is inside the castle walls! The service we received from the moment we arrived was excellent. We were offered the breakfast upon arrival and our bags were waiting in our room once we returned from a full day of sightseeing. My only regret is not booking another night. Only a taxi can provide door to door service, so if you have heavy luggage, arrange for their efficient pick up or get a taxi. It’s a steep climb up! Highly recommend!

We booked this based on the pictures and reviews and were not disappointed. We arrived before check in time so they took our luggage while we went on a tour. When we returned, they brought our luggage to our room and booked a Fado Restaurant for us for the following evening. The next morning after having a wonderful breakfast( included in our stay) I found out the shower didn't work. We reported it to the front desk and left for a tour. It was fixed when we returned. The hotel is right next to the Castle of St. George on the top of one of the hills. To get to our tours we had to walk down to the city squares, going back was a little bit harder. There is a bus that stops near the hotel , but we chose to walk.. We enjoy staying in small hotels like this with lots of character and it didn't disappoint.

What are unique facility. Next to or within a castle. The roads going to it are cobblestone. Winding roads and it takes multiple left and right turns to get to it. Located in central Lisbon. Access to areas of interest was easy. The staff was excellent. There was a billing mistake made. They went the extra mile to correct it. I would’ve never even known that it existed. If you wanted a taxi at 3:30 in the morning, they had a taxi there at 3:30 ready to take you. The bar that they had was fairly well stocked. You used it on the honor system. What place has that kind of policy? We could not have asked for a better experience.
