Hotel Breakwater South Beach

"No wash cloths were left in the bathroom when it was cleaned. Asked front desk to have some brought up, waited one hour and asked again. When they weren't brought up the second time, we asked for the THIRD time on our way out for the evening (after bathing with hand towels) and found some had finally been delivered when we returned later that night. On the upside, the AC was cold and the bed was comfy. Everything is just really dated."

"Clean property near the main strip, South Beach and Miami Convention Center. Centrally located- unique vibe - cute boutique hotel. I have stayed 3 times. One reoccurring theme I notice is maintenance . Toilet bowl seats with screw missing, shower drain cover not screwed on, missing lightbulbs, balcony door not closing tight etc. The other challenge at times is the staff ( front desk included) not great with English and not a great understanding of customer service. It is clean and good value depending on what you pay. Some of the 2 and 3rd floor corner balcony rooms nice. Ask for extra towels - they are not extra provided for 2 people. One other note - there is no place to leave luggage if you need to check out and have a day planned before your flight. Some of the amenities are shared with other hotels in area . Not necessarily negative but awareness not everything on premises. There is a second pool across the street which is lovely. Variety of guests - young to mid 40’s typically. No issue with noise on my stays although the area is busy. Great deli on same side one block away. Orange blossom restaurant close by and many shops and activities. South Miami never disappoints."

"Service was amazing and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Shoutout to the bartender in the lobby bar who was there June 5-6 (can’t remember his name unfortunately) for going above and beyond taking care of our drinks without us having to ask, he was very attentive and held a high standard to his service! Would stay here again anytime!"

"This is a stunning hotel with magnificent beach views. In my view though, the room was overpriced. Besides having a great view it was large. But, there was not appropriate space to lay out luggage. The room surprisingly smelled stuffy/stale. The hotel was very clean, but the room itself felt like it would have benefited from a bit of extra time in that department. The shower, while large, felt dingy. Not sure if the tiles/grout need to be freshened or if it was unclean. The valet staff and bell-hop were excellent. The front desk staff upon check in was no particularly friendly. It felt like they were going through the motions waiting for their shift to end. Later that evening, the front desk staff were much more helpful! I did inquire about booking a beach cabana but was told I had to book that from pool/beach staff. As a disabled woman, that was not helpful. Navigating outside to find staff to book this in advance was particularly challenging, so I did not book anything. The breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful and breakful was wonderful! Eden Roc was wonderful to experience once, but I don't think it was so amazing to justify the high price that I paid."
