Loved that the property was extremely close to time square! Just down 44th street! The staff were awesome and very polite. The only downfall for me was that there was no ice machine on any of the floors. No fridge or microwave in the rooms. However we did request dor a fridge to whoch one was brought. The wine cooler in the room didnt work, but we dont drink anyways. We actually thouht it was a fridge until we called and said the fridge in the room wasnt working. Other than that, it was a great business hotel. Didnt see any kids or teens here and was here for 6 days. Seems to be more of a business-like hotel..Not my type but was ok..

I stay at the NYC Sofitel Hotel typically once or twice a year. My latest visit last week has me thinking that I won't be back. For starters, the Sofitel is not a cheap discount hotel, but it might as well as be. As nice as the hallways look, the room interiors are awful: they're dark, dingy, worn and crowded. There are gouges in the furniture, paint defects abound--and the closets/wardrobes are makeshift--you shouldn't have to open two or three closet/wardrobe doors to figure out where to hang your clothes, which racks are too short to accommodate a shirt, etc. It's a really lousy touch to hide your terry-cloth robes folded up and hidden like an extra blanket at the top shelf of one of the closets. After all if you can't find the robes, you won't use them. I ended up using one as an extra blanket--because I couldn't find one. There are circular wear marks (burns) in the carpet. The French doors to the washroom are broken; one door always springs back to its closed position. Fully one-half of the desk is inaccessible because it's covered by a standing (not wall-hung) flat-screen TV. The fridge was empty, there's not even a courtesy (or even a for-sale) bottle of water anywhere in the room. We live in an electronic/digital world. But in your room, there are no electrical outlets on one side of the bed to locate your iPhone at night--so I had to sleep on "your" preferred side of the bed, instead of mine--where a lousy cheap cube tap was placed to fill my needs.

Nice and clean. Close to Times Square and the theaters on Broadway without being in the super high traffic area. Walkable to Central Park and 30 Rockefeller Center. Just 2 blocks from public library and Bryant Park. Hotel didnt have a store or ice vending which would have been convenient.

The Sofitel was a great fit for our weekend in the city. The location was perfect. Unfortunately, we had some hiccups with our stay. There was swinging sound above our room on the 29th floor that sounded like metal swinging back and forth. The gym was pretty outdated, broken covers on treadmills, dirty, not much room for free weights, very close quarters. The “Executive Suite” was decent, outdated, blurry tv, stained carpets, hinges on the shower were broken so the glass door would drag on the floor making a terrible sound. Checked in. Was told someone would bring my key to me in the lobby, we waited almost an hour and when I went back to the desk that person was no longer at the desk, and I was told our room had been ready for a while. Then, Two of the staff at the front desk gave us wrong information and we were then billed more than we were told our stay was. Housekeeping service kept knocking on our door to ask about cleaning times. 7am woke us up with a knock to ask when they can clean our room. I wish we were informed about the parades happening that weekend before we actually arrived. Sat. Was some sort of parade closing 6th Ave and 44th. Sunday was the big one though. The Puerto Rican day parade which closed 5th Ave and 43rd . Love having pride for your country but the amount of alcohol and marijuana and nudity our kids were exposed to a little heads up before we checked in would have been nice. Overall great location, staff was meh, cleanliness was meh.
