Cleveland House
6/10 Okay
"To summarize my experience in one word, it was disappointing. To start with positives: the people who work there were very nice. The room was clean, and the hot water in the shower was plentiful and had good pressure -- most of the time. On the downside -- and I am not sure if the fault is with the Cleveland House or the Hotel.com 1. The room was not at all as shown in the pictures. We paid for a "Deluxe Queen Bedroom." The actual room was very small (probably 10 by 10 feet) and was furnished with very basic bed, one nightstand, and one desk -- all old and not in the best of condition. If this is the "Deluxe," I hate to see their "standard' room. 2. The WiFi connection was inconsistent. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. 3. The Breakfast was a far cry from the pictures and the lavish praise on Hotel.com. It was very basic, and definitely not worth the extra $38 per night, which they (again, I am not sure whether the Cleveland House or the Hotel.com) charge for it. The breakfast room was in a separate building and served 3 or 4 different nearby inns belonging to this "Inns of Newport" company. The seating was inadequate to accommodate all of the people coming for breakfast. 4. The toilet did not flush properly. The handle was not working, and I had to lift the tank cover and pull the chain manually every time I wanted to flush the toilet. It was annyoing, and despite our complaints, in 3 day that we stayed there it was not fixed. 5. Last day the water was shut off."

"Staff very attentive and the property was gorgeous and so clean. The beds were very comfortable. Perfect location."

OceanCliff Hotel
4/10 Poor
"So…the site itself is in a gorgeous location so if the weather is good you will want to sit outside. The property is an older building and we expected and were fine with that. They seem to want to be a venue space more than a hotel- we knew there might be an event but the thumping music from the DJ travels. There was zero food or beverage available until breakfast- to the point where you cannot even get a soda. The A/C is controlled at the front desk and we’re assuming it was down low because of the event but it was so very cold in our room and there were no extra blankets. I slept in my coat and was miserable. Desk staff were just ok but the one lady who came to the room to fix the cable was very nice. Would not book again."

"Good location, friendly staff and very clean. However, check in was 4:00 and we didn’t get into our rooms until after 5:00. The front desk staff was very apologetic but obviously short on cleaning staff to prepare rooms. They did provide coupons towards breakfast but after we asked if they would compensate us for the late check in. Also, we were charged a $57 per room resort fee ( we had 3 rooms) but the pool was closed and the shuttle only ran on Sunday. We only got in our room at 5:00 Sunday, so were only able to take it one way into town for late dinner- it stopped running at 8:00, so we had to Uber back. It was not running Monday or Tuesday. They should start the fee when the pool is open and the shuttle runs daily. "

"Great location. "

Americas Cup Inn

"Parking was right beside the hotel. Hard to get a spot on a busy weekend though. Get the parking app and it is only $20 per day. Hotel location is right in the hub and everything is walkable. "

Island House Newport
10/10 Excellent
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From the moment we walked in the front door to the moment we checked out, was a first class experience. The staff were all extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The room was fresh, clean and relaxing. We loved the option to ride the bikes around town; that is an amazing perk. Even walking, all of the major activities and attractions are close. We have added this to our list as our #1 option to stay next time we visit Newport."

Hotel Viking
8/10 Good
"Stayed this past weekend and the updates and remodel to the hotel were beautiful! They did a wonderful job with the decor and overall vibe of the hotel. Rooms/ bathrooms are small, but the newness of all the furniture and finishings were a nice touch. We stayed on floor 2 and the water/ice station on floor 3 was not open/finished yet. There were caution construction signs blocking its use. Our AC also was not blowing cold air and our neighbors mentioned the same. They were advised to crack their window open. We did the same as it luckily was not a super hot night. House keeping was very kind and we were able to check in a little early which is always a plus!"
