"We enjoyed our stay at Gasthof Ami very much. The local scenery is spectacular and the location of Gasthof Ami is excellent for enjoying the surrounding area. We only used public transit or walking while visiting the area and that worked great. Downtown Nikko is a pleasant 1 hour walk. Or if you want the bus, the stop is a 5 or 10 minute walk from the hotel. Places such as Kegan Falls, Lake Chuzenji, Yudaki and Yumoto are all easy to get to on the bus. The room was very spacious and clean....

"We stayed here for 3 nights during October. Our first impression was very positive. we liked the design and spaciousness of the house. We were happy to receive complementary drinks. All the essentials were covered. The instructions were clear and we especially appreciated the guide on how to use the various appliances. Location is near Tobu World Square station. "This place was a Mom & Pop operation with a very familial atmosphere. Ken and Ise were very welcoming and helpful with helping us get settled, finding our way around Nikko and just generally friendly and helpful. If you're interested in a more homey atmosphere vs. Corporate hotel this is the place for you "

"장단점이 명확한 도전적인 숙소였습니다. 단점은 조금의 더러움도 용납할 수 없다면 거르시면 됩니다. 일단 저는 매우 만족했습니다. 가격은 석식 옵션 포함해도 상당히 저렴합니다. 직원들은 친절 했고, 석식 뷔페는 구성 및 신선도가 매우 훌륭합니다. 노천탕 포함 온천도 이용할 수 있습니다. 에어컨 잘 작동하고 방도 넓은 편이어서 쾌적 했습니다. 다른 리뷰에서 시설 컨디션이 좋지 않다는 평을 들어서 각오하고 갔습니다. 시설이 낙후되서 어쩔수 없는 부분이 있지만 청소는 최대한 되어 있었습니다. '본사에서 리모델링을 했으면 어떠했을까?' 라는 생각도 있지만 근처의 폐업한 여러 리조트를 보니 나름 사정이 있겠지요. 침몰해가는 배에서 직원들이 필사적 노력으로 유지하는 느낌? 최근 간 숙소 중에서 가장 인상적이었습니다. 석식 옵션은 꼭 포함시키세요."

"Really enjoyed this place, the room was more than sufficient for a family of 4, had all the amenities in it for a longer stay if it was required, not to mention the open air private onsen/bath was perfect after a days walking. There was a lot to see locally all in walking distance, cafes near by, otherwise the train station is close enough to use to get around on. Will definitely look at using this accommodation again if I find myself back in Japan around Nikko!"

"For a supposed 2 star rated hotel was well above that, on par with 3 star anywhere in Australia. Room was very comforable and bed was biggest I have ever slept in, could have fitted 4 people easy."
