"This is a great, old school Miami hotel. I want to preface this by saying I had a wonderful stay, and if I am back in South Beach, these are the first people I am looking up. Since this hotel was probably 90 years old, some of the facilities are a little worn. The floor sags, there's a little bit of wear to the carpets, and they had a plastic tarp over a hole in the ceiling due to leakage. "It was a nice hip hotel along the touristy area of Miami Beach. It seemed to be a combination of 2-3 hotel buildings and the main building you check in but they had me walk next door to the next building where the outside DJ was spinning dance music and the taco restaurant was filled with people. Little embarrassing to have to walk with your luggage, through the people eating their food, into double doors (which no one was there to greet/guide you or help open the doors. You end up in the...

"Good location, friendly and service minded staff, clean and comfortable rooms, would stay here again if at the South beach. If looking for beach comfort pick an hotel with service (chairs) at he beach, if you donät mind bring a chair provided by the hotel then Avalon is a good choice to stay. "
