"Great Location and Value, with a Few Minor Connectivity Issues
My wife, our son, and I recently stayed in a twin bed room at the Crowne Plaza Beijing Chaoyang U-town. Overall, it was a great base for our family trip. Here are our main pros and cons:
Pros:
Excellent Mall Connection: The hotel connects directly to U-town, which is incredibly convenient. After landing in Beijing around 4–5 PM, we were settled into our room by 6:30 PM. Being able to just head downstairs for a quick, delicious dinner before jet lag set in was a lifesaver.
Location: Situated inside the 2nd Ring Road, making it a very convenient pickup spot for tour groups. It’s also only about a 30-minute taxi/DiDi ride from the airport.
Fantastic Fitness Amenities: The gym is fully equipped for strength training, cardio, and yoga. The separate side studio is a major plus if you want to do your own HIIT or yoga routine without taking up space on the main floor. The indoor swimming pool was also a huge hit with my wife and son.
Value: Exceptional value if you can book it for under $100 USD/night.
Cons:
Unreliable Wi-Fi: The internet connectivity was a major downside for me. While I could connect to the Wi-Fi network, I frequently got no actual internet access. This ended up eating significantly into my cellular eSIM data plan.
Average Views: The view from our room was nothing spectacular—just a standard view of the city blocks.
Verdict: Despite the frustrating Wi-Fi, the location, price point, and amenitie"
