"Recently stayed at Horizon by SkyCity Auckland and unfortunately the experience was disappointing.
After ordering room service early in the morning, I ate and went back to sleep, only to be rudely woken by the room phone with a staff member insisting he had to come to my room immediately with an EFTPOS machine to pay for a plate of hot chips. This was despite the hotel already having my credit card details on file for the room and valet parking. The staff member was abrupt and demanding when all I wanted to do was go back to sleep. I advised them they already had my card details and it could easily have been sorted in the morning.
The buffet breakfast was also average at best. Several of my business associates commented that the hot food was only lukewarm, which was disappointing considering the standard you expect from a hotel like this.
The only positive part of the stay was the lady at reception the following morning, who apologised professionally and refunded the room service fries.
Overall, not an experience I’d rush back for."
