If looking for a bed and shower sure was great! I felt much safer moving the chair over and jamming it under the door so no one could open the door. The floor was dirty and a jar of peanuts in the closet. Bathroom needed some help. Like I said, I stayed cause I needed a bed and shower, but would have NEVER allowed any of my kids in the room!

No free breakfast at Free Breakfast Inn
Start with the name. The "Free Breakfast Inn" serves nothing at all for breakfast. You get a voucher for a restaurant 1/2 mile away across the Interstate that doesn't open until 11 a.m.; therefore, most guests will be long gone and on the road by the time one can take advantage. The evening clerk was a very friendly, well-spoken and nice old lady who explained this to me, and gave me a $4 room discount after I noted I had to be at least 100 miles down the road by the time I could eat that lunchtime breakfast. I wish the room were as clean as the service is friendly. It looked like a time warp to 1974, with a pink bulb in the lamp, golden sculptures on the wall, silver flowery curtains, and brown shag carpet. That would be fine (if eccentric), except the carpet was grimy, somewhat greasy, and littered with small hard objects (likely pebbles from the outside driveway). It hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. Beds were really old, squeaky and uneven, but not hard; I actually slept fairly well. The shower ran fine but had no head; water squirted from a hole at the end of a pipe. Paint was peeling in several places too. At least I didn't see any bugs. Still, I'd expect to pay $30-45 for a comparable grunge motel elsewhere on the High Plains, not $55+tax as I did (on hotels.com discount) here. Aside from being overpriced, it's also very remote -- only one restaurant, one bar and a truck stop within at least 3 miles of open prairie.

Decent Stay
The rooms are extremely dated, but the linens and towels were cleaner and of higher quality than a typical motel. The blackout curtains were AMAZING.

Was contacted by Shirley at the hotel this morning. I didn't stay there 21 Sept and regret my earlier comment. I was given misleading info from some Oakley locals and changed plans. Again I regret earlier comment and told Shirley I would stay there depending on future travel plans.

Just what we needed for the price. Had to break up a road trip with a few hours of sleep for a family of four. Free breakfast was for only two, though. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was great.

The lady at front desk was very friendly but room was awful. It stunk and it was falling apart. Shower was falling of the wall. Comforter and bed cover had staines on it. Door had big gap and wind was coming through the bottom. We will never stay at that place again

The whole place could use updating. There was nothing around except for Two restaurants about a 1/2 mile away. We ate at Captain Jacks, great food and company.

This is a very old hotel- towels and sheets were clean, but carpet was really gross. Desk falling apart, mattress very old....

Don't stay here!
If you had a negative star it would get it. Office smelled so badly of cat urine and cat hair everywhere my husband could hardly step inside. The carpet was so filthy I couldn't walk on it without shoes. If the reservation hadn't been one where we were charged if we cancelled there is no way I would have stayed there. There was hot water and a soft bed.

We enjoyed our stay at the Free Breakfast Inn, it was clean, people were friendly and the breakfast was very good. As others have stated, the dog smell in the reception area was questionable but we knew about it so it wasn't a problem. Nice spot to stay when traveling and needing a one night stay.

A motel with a hot breakfast
Despite the appearance on the outside the room was cozy. It was a good place to stay for one night. The breakfast at the restaurant was eggs and pancakes or toast? It would have been better with family friendlier drink options.

Very nice little inn
This is a quaint little inn. The room was actually nice and clean. The bathroom was also very clean, although something was wrong with the plumbing, so that the water pressure wasn't enough. The free breakfast was just fantastic. I was given a card for breakfast at the colonial steakhouse. Eggs done the way you want it, coffee, pancakes or biscuits. The proprietress is a very nice lady very eager to help and answer questions. My only negative comment was a strange musty odor in the room.
