Old Gin House has a great location. It is a 10 minute walk to the ferry terminal. The best dive shop on the island is across the street from the hotel. You can walk across the street to the beach for swimming and snorkeling. Food in the hotel restaurant is good.

To many cats at check in on the property overall the manager was very accommodating and service oriented
This place has potential, but has seen better days. In desperate need of an update. We were given the keys to our room and that was the last time we saw any staff at the hotel. The mosquitos in the room were terrible, the pool looked tired and the rooster woke you up at all hours of the night. The restaurant staff were very nice.
I like that I was able to get a decent breakfast. The room was untidy. We told front desk about it & they did nothing. The toilet was messy. Dirty floors. The towels were smelly. Dead insects on floor. We were not very comfortable with the mess. The hotel also needs some maintenance work. Pool can not be used. It's unkept. Sofa chairs by beach were a mess. We were just happy we had working AC, wifi & Breakfast at mornings. Everything else was trash! We won't be returning.
Conveniently located by the ferry port and a nice stroll into town once you overcome the steep climb right as you leave the hotel. No complaints whatsoever.
The moment we entered the property it was exactly what we wanted for a small island. Close to lots of historic buildings and still near the water with a fantastic restaurant. Pool was very enjoyable. Will stay at The Gin House if we return to Statia.

Loved this place, super charming, tons of colonial feeling. Peter, the owner was such a great host. The restaurant was super chill and the food was incredible. We talked to the super tall dutch chef, nice guy. Only problem is the place is getting run down and theres road construction on going.
The new owners are working hard to refresh this historic property. The seaside location is a gem and the staff members are friendly and attentive (special shout-out to Julia). The full breakfast is a wonderful benefit, and my mahi-mahi dinner was absolutely delicious! An added bonus is the proximity to another excellent restaurant, as well as a scuba center for those who come to Statia to dive. Thanks to Peter and Jeanette and your amazing staff!

Our stay 30 june to 2nd July 2023 was in general enjoyable. The room was big, and clean, all the facilities and services worked, but the overall impression is that the Old Gin House needs a refurbish, and the photos we found before our stay were either out of date, or modified to look better that the place really was. The pool area was especially dirty and decrepit. The staff were nice, but not very welcoming, lucklily the area around the hotel, and above all the barrel house, restaurant was very nice. I woud not return there unless some work is done.
Lashonda is amazing if I had to rate her alone it would have been excellent
The room had nasty order
Move to another room
Porch was filthy like it hadnt been clean in days
Entrance to room dirty
Server staff needs customer service training
Wouldnt recommend to stay there
My room has a great view of the ocean and quite comfortable. The room comes with a small refrigerator and a coffee machine. A/C is sound is soft. There is not much of a beach since this is a volcanic island. Location is excellent. Scubaqua is 2 doors down, Barrel House restaurant is next door and Nats Boardwalk is a minute or two walk towards the dock. Old Gin House also has its own restaurant. The path up hill to town is next to the Old Gin House.
Very nice suite with large sitting room containing two sofas and a separate bedroom with king size sleigh bed. Although there had obviously been some money spent on this hotel, it was probably 20 years back and is now looking a bit tired. The staff were great and the restaurant was excellent, but it is essential to book a table when you first check in. If your taste is for Marriott style hotels, this may not be for you, but if you enjoy quirky originality and local flavour, you will be pleased.

Enorm vriendelijk personeel!
Stijlvol hoofdgebouw, prima kamers, lekkere bedden, mooi uitzicht over zee, prima ontbijt, persoonlijke service. Alles wat past bij een verblijf op dit bijzondere bovenwindse eiland.
Saybolt and Merlies are an extremely attentive in all the senses possible. Whatever you may ask they going to make it possible even in this C-19 situation. Rooms are right next to the sea. Food is above the standards with some dishes really amazing.
If you want to recharge your batteries give a chance to this place, it is a must
