Weekend in Northfield.

Stay was very comfortable. Only complaint was that the tv wasn't working. Was told to reboot it which we did two times and still it wouldn't work.

Girls weekend

The Archer House is definite an old historic building, but that's what made it wonderful. It has a lot of character. The only issue was more with booking through Hotels.com. My reservation confirmation had us in a room with 2 queens, but upon check in we had 1 kind bed and all rooms were booked. Unfortunately we had to use a blow up mattress and at our age it wasn't the best, but we made due and we still had a great time.

enjoyed the history of the Archer House. The owners did a very nice job rehabbing the hotel, with touches such as cell phone plug in connections. What we liked least was lack of a microwave. The continental breakfast seemed to leave a little bit to be desired. Overall a nice experience. Thank you.

Very nice heritage hotel. The rooms are nice and is a good size but basic. Breakfast was very average and minimal maybe because there were not many people staying.The plus is downtown and can walk around and close to the college.

Location is perfect for visiting Carleton College, close to coffee shops and restaurants on Division Street and only a couple of blocks down the hill from campus.

Clean and comfortable except for pillows

Atmospheric building, clean and mostly comfortable except for the pillows, which are foam rocks. Great location--walk to campus, just go downstairs and a couple of doors over to Little Joy Cafe for terrific coffee and pastries.

Great base for visiting Northfield

If you want new, go somewhere else. If you want comfortable with character and easy access to town and campus, you can't beat Archer House. It's our preferred place to stay when visiting our son.

The bed was amazingly comfortable! The water pressure in the shower was awesome! Due to some flooding or other problems, the lounge was under construction and it was a maze getting from the lobby to the elevator to reach our room. There was no staff to help carry our luggage and no cart within sight, so carrying our own luggage up the elevator and around the maze was a bit challenging for these 2 60+ something girls.

Good value, local character!

Staff was excellent and very helpful. The beds and linens were comfortable and bathroom looked newly remodeled. And the room was quiet. The building overall (lobby and hallways) are worn and could use renovation. But it is a good value for the money. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there is an excellent Indian restaurant next door and wonderful bakery two blocks away.

The people in the lobby were very loud late into the evening and sound travels easily through and up the stairs. The place has character and is lovely with an excellent location right downtown. Besides the noise and Luke warm showers I would recommend

The location on Division Street is nice, walking distance to the various small stores and coffee shops. Northfield commercial area is tiny, so nice to be right in midst of it. Parking easy. What is not so pleasant about Archer House is the three restaurants co-located/adjacent to house in same complex. Strong smell of food all the time in room esp at night wasnt ideal. We visited in Feb so this may explain it but at least the noise from restaurants was not a problem. Old building, so hot water problem when we arrived (pipe burst) but quickly fixed. No coffee pots etc in room which is a shame but shops nearby open at 0700.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The Indian restaurant on site was delicious. The lobby was beautiful and welcoming. The decor was nice, but the mix of old and modern was a bit confusing. Personally, I'd like to see the glass tables in the halls replaced with antique hardwood furniture. And some late 1800's early 1900's classical paintings on the walls. I look forward to a stay here in the future, when the construction of the river view bar and patio, and renovation of the Tavern restaurant are finished.
