"The receptionist was a bit cross when we arrived - I had said our ETA was 18.30 to 18.45, we arrived at 18.55 (I realise that reception closes at 19.00 and we were a bit later than anticipated, but we had had a tiring journey, and at least we arrived 5 mins before reception closed!!). A different person was on reception on checking out who wasn't very warm. "

"Il Principe is one of the best located hotels in Catania, close to all the main sights and easy walking distance to Square, Monastery, Fish Market etc. The Staff were exceptionally helpful . The reception area's, and Breakfast room had plenty of space and nicely decorated with marble. 2 person lift to all floors. The hotel had somewhere for the luggage on our last day. There was alway someone on reception. The area was quiet and felt safe. Breakfast had a good variety, hot scrambled eggs or boiled, bacon, mushrooms. Cold ham and cheese, yogurts, cereals, croissants. Fruit juice and coffee. The room was a good size and double aspect. Our room had a shower, which was adequate but could have done with updating. Bed was large but a little firmer than we are used to. Towels, hairdryer etc provided. Air conditioning was excellent. Unfortunately there was no kettle or coffee maker in the room, although there was a fridge and safe. I don't think we could have got a hotel that was in a better spot, ideal to pop back to in the day for a rest."

"The room was very comfortable and spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we had a great time. It’s very close to the Piazza Duomo and easy to visit the city center. I would recommend it and book it again if I return to Catania."

"Didn’t realize it was on a very busy party street with special event music keeping us awake till very late…can’t recommend it because of the noise levels from the streets."

"The hotel has a perfect location just a stone's throw from the main square with the elephant. The staff were very kind and helpful. We liked the small size of the hotel a lot. You do need to be able to climb a few stairs to navigate this hotel but it's really lovely."
