"Great location in downtown Blue Ridge. Just know that the hotel is right across the road from the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway so when the train leaves in the morning you will hear the horn and the engine. Fortunately, it only ran a few days of the week when were there in mid-July so we only heard it on one morning. We love the train so that was part of the allure for us. When we got to our room and opened the blinds there were two nasty looking used tissues laying on the sill. Fortunately, the rest of the room and hotel seemed clean. The only other negatives regarding the room were the loose USB and electrical sockets next to the bed. The USB sockets didn’t work and the electrical outlet only worked when you positioned your plug just right. The bathroom and shower were nice and functional but the sink faucet was strangely positioned in the very corner of the sink so you could barely get your hands in the water stream without contorting them. We really enjoyed The Lookout at the top of the hotel. This is the bar and lounge that is partially outdoors so you can look onto the downtown area below. The manager up there was very nice and helpful. The one downside is that a large group of local kids (under 21) came in and crowded us out of the space. Also, they closed the lounge for a couple of hours for a “private event”. It would be nice to see them cater a little more to regular hotel guests. Other than that, we were surprised to learn that the hotel charged $8 daily for parking."
