Sigiriya is a beautiful little town and Lion Rock is a must do. Get up early to beat the crowds and heat. It opens at 7am. We hired a scooter but Charu the father will drive you if needed. The family are absolutely loving,kind and generous. Make sure you have dinner with them. One of the best meals I've had in Sri Lanka. Now for the suprise...

"The property itself was nice, especially the pool. It’s in a very remote area though so count on that you have to get back early and spend your evenings there. Stuff was nice and helpful. Kind of disappointed at the high price of the dinner (higher price than in a nice restaurant in Colombo) and that they charge you for water (tripple price). "Very friendly and helpful staff and a lovely setting. Happy to arrange tours, taxis etc. The restaurant area on the edge of the forest away from the main road meant it was quieter than other hotels but still walkable to the sites."
