"When I arrived, they had let someone else check into my hotel earlier that day, so I was in the lobby for an hour or more while they figured it out. Initially I was told there were no more rooms. Than the manager was called on the phone, he came around the corner in socks and bedhead like he just woke up. Than they put me in whay I believe was a smoking room when they finally figured something out for me, just smelled like cigarettes, when I woke up, there was a smokey haze in the room like people had been smoking so much all night in there rooms that it made it’s way into ours. All around a bad experience, wish I would have been given a refund or a discount at the very least."

"We enjoyed our stay. The amenities; indoor pool and hot tub were great. The interior is a bit dated and not perfectly kept up/maintained, for this reason I would give it 4 stars. That said, as a person that is part of the mass middle class, we would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it to the rest of the mass middle class. Thank you!"

"This is my second time staying at Hotel Nichols in South Haven. All n all, if you're looking for a nice, reasonably priced place to stay and location is important so you can walk around the town and not have to drive, Hotel Nichols is the place to stay! South Haven as a whole is the perfect mini getaway from Chicago, and Hotel Nichols' location is absolutely perfect so you can walk around to shops, restaurants, the beach etc. It was a last minute mom and daughter trip. The walkability is one of the best features of staying at this hotel vs an Airbnb, and though this trip was during offseason, and several places are temporarily closed, there is still enough to do and enjoy in an even more relaxed time. Nick who works at Hotel Nichols is always very welcoming and friendly, and we appreciate that breakfast is included. The hotel is charming and even offers an array of board games for guests if you have earlier nights in (which we did). Nearby vineyard: If you're coming from (or returning to) the Chicagoland area and you enjoy wine, we also tried Filkins vineyard on our way up - only 25 min from the hotel, great wines, a beautiful vineyard and friendly staff. "

"Honestly, I do not recommend it; it was completely filthy and covered in dust. There was hair in both the bathtub and the sink. The beds were dirty—the sheets were soiled and full of hair—and the coffee maker looked like it had never been washed. It bears absolutely no resemblance to the photos used to describe this place. Given the price I paid, I was in for a huge shock; it has absolutely nothing in common with a "suite.""

"We stayed one night as we were visiting the coast on our way to Chicago. This was booked following reviews that appeared on Hotels.com and whilst the hotel was adequate we felt that our experience did not match up with what other people have said. The overall area appeared to be geared towards families although we were there in mid April most things were shut. The overall feel of the hotel was average. We stayed in a suite with a view of the car park. In room tea coffee was available although paper cups which was a little surprising for the grade of hotel. The in house restaurant and bar was closed on Sunday and Monday this was not mentioned on the website and the only food available was from a snack shop with limited stock. Breakfast was continental but again tea and coffee was available using the same sort of paper cups cutlery was plastic. The website suggests breakfast is top rated not quite sure how. You are left with the impression that it was overpriced and not really worth the money we paid. "

"We had a really great time! The Dome we stayed in was really cute and “evil eye” themed! Comfortable bed and we even had a hot tub. We built a cozy fire and enjoyed the deer that came out at night. Will be back with a bigger group of friends to enjoy the pool! Thanks for the lovely stay! "
