Parking was ample; ocean view was great, but the room was sub-par. It was clean, but the floor molding had been removed, which made the room look really old; No shampoo/conditioner was provided and no hair dryer. Front staff, when present, was friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff was on top of things. Pool was nice and a good temperature, but they allowed children's swimming lessons there 2-3 days while we were there, so that put a damper on the experience. No restaurant on site, but a good one was next door at an affiliated property.

This hotel is vastly underrated. During its prime it was a top-notch hotel, but after 50 years and a hurricane it's undergoing a needed renovation. The hotel is in a great location, just south of Roseau, right on the beach with parking in front. There is a swimming pool which overlooks the sea with steps to a pebble stone beach. It's about 1 mile south of the Botanical gardens where it's quieter and less conjested than the capital city. Their restaurant isn't currently in operation but there's a lovely restaurant called Oceans Edge 50 feet next door. The rooms are well appointed with AC, desk, refrigerator, WiFi and balconies overlooking the pool and the Caribbean. The bathrooms are spacious with storage space, good lighting and hot water. The couple who are overseeing this ambitious renovation have hired excellent staff who are acommodating and knowledgeable regarding both the immediate neighborhood as well as Dominica in general. I was pleased with my stay and would recommend this clean and affordable facility.

Appears doing renovation so that you have hurricane and purchase. Nice pool right on the water. And the staff was super great. Love having sounds of the ocean waves while I was sleeping

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely nice and made me feel very welcome throughout my visit. The view from the property is absolutely awesome — especially during sunset. Watching the sun go down from my room (or the hotel balcony) was truly unforgettable. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

We went in the off season and had the place to ourselves so it was pretty peaceful. But because of the off season there were several restaurants closed during our stay making different food choices limited.

This hotel is still trying to recover from past hurricanes, and the friendly staff is trying its best. The chief difficulty is that the hotel is far from downtown, with limited facilities (no restaurant, for example). The taxi ride from the ferry to the hotel was exorbitant (30 euros), while the normal fare (about 13 euros) is still pretty high. The rooms, however, are spacious and clean, so it's a decent option if the price is right.

All About the Anchorage for a Great Stay

The Anchorage was just what we needed -- location on the main street with parking for our rental car; clean room with AC, mini frig, electric teakettle/coffee & tea supplies; bathroom with shower, sink, toilet, and open closet/shelves; storm window with a view of the ocean; friendly staff; and a full restaurant right next door! The restaurant is located at Ocean's Edge and served us breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, take-away, and even has a bar. There is also a Dive Shop at Ocean's Edge for renting snorkel gear, scuba excursions, and whale watching tours. Anchorage has a meeting room for rent available and an outdoor bar/dance area for rent. (We enjoyed listening to live music one night during our stay.) Note: Anchorage has 12 hotel rooms, with 3 on the ground floor, and the others accessible via stairs. They also have a 3-bedroom apartment with kitchen for rent. Other 10-room block at Anchorage was damaged several years ago in Hurricane Maria. Hopefully this will be renovated in future. When we were at Anchorage their pool had suffered a bit of damage from Hurricane Beryl, so was empty of water and getting painted. Also, the "beach" at Anchorage is very rocky, so wear water shoes and look for waves/current/large rocks before entering. If you have questions, ask Susanna, Celina, and Shannon, who took time to answer all of our inquiries. Very helpful staff. They can also arrange taxi to and from airport if you don't rent a car.

What made our Dominican stay was the people. We cried when we left. We will definitely stay again and considering that they are still recovering from Hurricane Maria… they have come a long way! It’s not fancy but it’s a good place to stay. The staff were gracious and wonderful!
