While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."

Absolutely fantastic 2-day stay in the Royal Suite at Le Château de La Seigne. It’s only a 10-minute drive from Carcassonne, and Ubers had no trouble picking us up right at the gate quickly. The château itself is stunning and beautifully restored, packed with character and cool features like vintage restored cars in the entrance garage, a working old-school jukebox near the hall and a characterful staircase up to the upper rooms. This property is like the Jewel in the Crown!! Firstly, don't be put off by the small number of excellent reviews as it has only opened this year. The hosts, Katy and Olivier, were both working in England for many years at a high quality and popular hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. We chose the hotel because it offered breakfast as part of the deal. When we got there we discovered it was a very remote (quiet) rural, converted farmhouse offering modern room facilities and excellent breakfast. It also had an outdoor, unheated, swimming pool, horses to ride and staff who could not do enough for us. Lovely hotel in an excellent location, just a short walk into the old town but also on a street with plenty of amenities of its own. Free parking nearby in the Place Barbicane which was easy to find and close to the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and local products. The hotel garden was beautiful, and a cute if very small roof terrace too from which you can get a view of the city walls.
